This has been a highly unusual fog season for Galveston. Usually only a few days a year when the port is closed. The reason for so much sea fog is that the water temperature is still really cool and the actual temperature has been in the mid 70's thus creating sea fog. Hopefully the water temp will come up real soon.

Happy to see you are on the ship. Worst that can happen is you will not get out this evening and sail tomorrow. Enjoy your trip, be flexible. Looks to me like you have the right attitude to really enjoy!

PS: Just think of the $$ you will save if the Casino does not open.

Define what a problem is... About ten sailings a year on an average as described at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce meeting are impacted. Most are a two hour delay or less, and in the past week it impacted three ships.

It's a problem if you and I are aboard the ship! But in reality it's not a very frequent thing.

Oh they're selling the DODs for sure. They start selling them as soon as pax board the ship. I believe the only time they don't is when the ship is delayed coming in due to fog.

In recent days, Galveston, the East coat of Florida, the West Coast of Florida have had fog....Not exclusive to the Texas coast.

They can sell alcohol from the moment you walk on the ship, but I think they have to charge Texas sales tax until they are in international waters.

Weather forcast is calling for strong winds to come in from the west, hope this helps the fog, but does not effect the voyage. Happy Sailing!

They can sell alcohol as long as it was purchased locally. RCCL, for example, sources most of their alcohol from Florida, so they have limited offerings until they set sail. Carnival may be the same way but I don't know where they source their alcohol.

Looks like we are staying put maybe through tonight. Fixing to go to welcome aboard show. It's all good we are on vacay!!!:D

As soon as the front blows through, that should push away the fog. It has already come through here, so should'nt be much longer before it gets there. Keep fingers crossed that you may leave later tonight.;)

The cruise ships can only sell certain types of liquor when they are docked at a Texas port.

In 2008, they told us if we left by 10pm, we wouldn't miss any ports... But we left at 7am, and we lost Progreso...

Again... back in 2008...

At least the ship got INTO port before they closed it. Otherwise they may have diverted it or just held it out from shore.

Yes you can...they just dont have "full bar" you can still get almost any drink you want..

Its not all alcohol, its just limited as to brands, etc.
