Anybody bought an alcoholic drink package on Victory?

Saw in another thread that this was offered last week?

Can anybody verify it and say if they bought it?

Apparently it's around $45 and includes up to 15 under-$10 drinks per day?

Has anybody seen it on any other ships?

Only groups can get a drink package.. you have to have at least 30? in the group and everyone has to pay the price...thats probably what you read. To me $45 a day for drinks, including port days is pretty high. $45 X 7 days or whatever.

Here is a tread on the same thing.. is this where you got this idea?

You can see someone posted almost what I posted .. you have to be a group and booked as a group and everyone in the group has to pay the price.

This is not a rumor.

I was on the Victory last week; the package was listed both on signs on at least one bar (martini/wine) AND IN THE DAILIES.

I talked to at least 2 couples and a group of two guys (who traveled together) who bought the package and were not in a group either.

Again: the package was publicly advertised on both signs and in the dailies.

Caveats:

All in cabin must buy (not sure about what happens if you have multiple cabins)

15 drink max @ no more than $10 value each

Must buy within first two days of cruise

42.95/day, does not include gratuities (which are charged based on drink value)

Internet rumors running wild once again.

Anyone have any more information about the drink package? Is it only on the Victory, or has anyone seen it on any other ships (namely the Valor)?

My wife and I are VERY interested in this package and we haven't been able to find any more details about it. We certainly like to drink, and this would definitely save us a few bucks.

Thanks!

I'd like to know if it will be on the Valor out of San Juan next year since it is replacing the Victory. 2 buckets of beer (8 beers) is around $50. so I think we could get our money's worth!

Wonder if you have to buy it for each day of the cruise (7 day cruise you have to buy 7 days worth). Or can you just buy it for, say, first day of a 7 day cruise. 2 people, about $100, get 30 beers from the bar and store in cabin. That's $3 bucks a beer. That would be agood deal, but I don't think it's gonna happen on good ol' Carnival.

Interesting...I just checked with my PVP (who is very good and has been a PVP for years) and she has never heard of it....she checked the Fun Times for the Victory and found nothing either. So something is weird here.

Last I heard, it is only offered to CERTAIN groups, the group must have 30 people and all in the group have to opt for it.

CARNIVAL TESTING NEW ALL-INCLUSIVE BEVERAGE PROGRAM ON CARNIVAL VICTORY

Carnival Cruise Lines began testing a new all-inclusive beverage program aboard the Carnival Victory starting with the ship’s Aug. 5 departure.

Under the “My Awesome Bar Program,” guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer, and spirits, along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails, throughout the voyage at one convenient, flat rate. All wines by the glass, beer and individual cocktails priced $10 and lower are available within the program. Full bottles of wine and champagne, as well as wines by the glass, beers and individual cocktails priced above $10, are available at a 25 percent discount.

Guests can sign up for the “My Awesome Bar Program” at Carnival Victory’s atrium and casino bars, as well as a bar within the main pool area. Each guest aged 21 years and over in the same stateroom must purchase the beverage package. Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol on Carnival ships.

The cost for program is $42.95 per person per day, plus a 15 percent gratuity.

Honestly, this sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I see people who will "force" all 15 drinks down everyday so they feel like they got their money's worth - people who who should have stopped well before drink number 15.

This.

Now we know why The came out with FTTP, to cover the loss from this bit of idiocy.

Interesting! Where did you find this? I can't find anything on Carnival's site about it:confused:

They should add free placement on liver transplant waiting list as a perk also. Call it the FTTLF fun program ( faster to the liver failure). And to think Carnival uses the excuse of keeping passengers in control as an excuse not to allow them to bring their own alcohol! I drink a fair amount myself but not enough to justify 50 bucks a day.

Idiocy? Hardly. Alcohol is one of the biggest money makers for anyone, whether it would be a cruise or restaurant. I remember watching a show about the profitablity of an American Air flight fron NY to LA and after all expenses, only made around $80 and if weren't for the sales of alcohol, it would have lost $.

I think it unwise for most to purchase a all you can drink plan as it is like a buffet- you will think you'll consume more than you really will. Plus, I do think there will be people who will try to "make it worth their $". However, there is no denying that it will be profitable, plus other lines have been doing it and people have been clamoring for it, so why not? If people demand something that will make CCL more $, CCL is obliged to meet that demand.

At $2.86 a drink I is a money loser or rather a profit eliminator.

If this program goes fleetwide hopefully Carnival will set up convenient vomit stations that include barf bags, paper towels, water, and aspirin and antacids! They will surely need more security too for all the out of control people.

I'm sure Carnival pays much less than $2.86 for a beer or a shot of well liquor.

Why I changed my comment from money to profit.

Besides, the smarter ones switch to top shelf anyway. I know I did.

Gerry's job is to show Micky x amount of Revenue per passenger. Why volunteer to cut everyone's bar bill by less then half.
