Any old Dolphin/Premier employees around?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are both ex crew members, he worked for Dolphin and Premier before joining me on RCI. He was definitely crew during that time, say 1996-1997, he was a DJ/Cruise Staff, his name was Jason McDaniel.

Sound familiar at all?

Dave, I worked with you.:) I actually tried to page you on the Princess board a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't on the Dolphin IV very long, just for a bit before Canaveral took over. I worked at times in the kids' room with Meagan, but preferred cruise staff duties. Sound familiar at all? Errol, Casey, Meredith, Lisa, Meagan, & Richard were on at the time. That ship was so much fine, despite its many problems.;) How are you doing? Do you ever run into anyone or keep in touch with anyone from those days? Hope to hear back from you!

Hi,

I was the CD on the Dolphin IV from 96-97, and alson worked for Majesty/Dolphin from 92-97. My name is Dave Soreff. I am currently performing on the Caribbean Princess with my fiance in a duo called Elua.

Dave

www.eluamusic.com

You would be the Dave Soreff who croons to Parrotheads in Florida (or at least used to!)

I may have to switch from Cunard to Princess!

And speaking of Parrothead Crooners and Dolphin/Premier-

The musical Director/entertainer just before Premier went under (again) both literally and figuratively in the case of the Seabreeze, Was Barry- Oh heck, Now I can't remember his last name. He was a Buffett/Neil Diamond impersonator, After seeing one, you wouldn't believe the next night he could be the other, but he was! And even better! (Now I will have to go look up old emails when we stayed in touch. He did, or managed, or something, an all celbrity impersonator show in Vegas., I think he also hit Atlantic City and Myrtle Beach. Oh yeah- Barrie Cunningham.

HOLD IT! I just realized I have some Premier Cruise Lines Captain's Logs From October 1999 right n the floor beside me!*With Captain Ilias Lekkas from Greece.

Karie, Who cried when the old ship went down. I had some wild stories from that ship and her last bankrupt moans! .Tales of selling our fresh water to the island of Roatan who was still suffering the effects of Hurricane Mitch, The rogue scuba operator in Belize, The passenger mutiny when we skipped Key West during Fantasy Fest, and half the men on board had bought fabulous exoensive gowns for one of the parades/parties.

Ahh, memories!

Karie

P.S. Dave- It was the week after Meeting of the Minds 1999- Barrie was also at MOTM, though not registered

We were on the Celebrity Century in October and the comedian that used to write for Benny Hill was on the ship...He was on the Premier saling from Boston just before it got taken over in Halifax.. I'm having a "senior moment"...Lenny??? He is doing well and when I reminded him of hiis sons owning a pub in the UK he said he now owned 5 hotels..lol... He was as funny on the Century as he was on the Premier using his old shtick of the musical hammers.. On the Premier ship they had an Evlis impersonator (it sailed from Boston) and I don't remember who the Entertainment Director was, but the "shows and games" were hysterical.. My husband kept winning games and joinng in...the ship looked like an oversized tugboat, but I have never met a more wonderful crew. Oh yes our first cruises from Aruba about 20 years were on the Dolphin and Seabreeze.. If only they would bring back the wonderful older ships...

Yes, that would be me...former Buffett-dude. I really don't get to sneak in much JB these days...a whole lot of rumbas, cha chas and waltzes though!

My old days on the Dolphin were some of my favorite. Yes, we looked like a tugboat, but we never had a crew that worked harder or played harder. You just don't see that anymore...but,that being said, the new large ships have a ton of amenities that we neever even dreamed of back then.

Aloha,

Dave

Ps:

Anne...how did you end up in Germany?

His name was Lenny Windsor and he use to have his wife in the act too. He was a riot! I always wondered what had happened to him. We saw him on the Island Breeze in 97 on a Panama Canal cruise which sailed out of Montega Bay, Jamaica. Thanks for the memory...

I loved Lenny!

We saw him on SeaBreeze in summer 2000, and my husband was selected out of the audience to be in his act. I never laughed so hard in my life. We were booked for another cruise on SeaBreeze in September 2000, but that never came to be. My husband I planned to be in the first row of the show lounge holding the letter L on our foreheads. (Those who saw his act may know what I'm referring to.)

Have any of you worked with Tom Dentino? He was the best cruise director we've ever had -- learned our names, was always visible, and always had a big smile.

Yes, I actually worked a couple of cruises with Tom. Hell of a nice guy...very easygoing, but the crowd always love dhim. An interesting fact about Tom, is that he was a second generation CD, as father was one before him.

Tom Dentino was on the Seabreeze when I sailed on her back in 92 out of Miami to the eastern Caribbean. Always out and about on the ship. The Seabreeze had some of the best service and food of any ship that I have cruised to date. Sad to see what happened to her. Of course by now she would have wound up in Alang if she had not gone down.

Our first cruises were on the above three ships (as passengers)...that was 20 years ago guys...did we sail from Aruba, I don't remember...Lenny Windsor doesn't use a woman in h is act on the Celebrity C entury, but the CD Alan King does use his wife.. I long for the days of those old tug boat ships..little did we all know they would be replaced by huge mega floatng resorts. BTW does anybody remember a y oung man who was on the Ocean ad Sea who was also a magician and was invited to Magic Mountain in CA? Does anybody remember Robert and Mandy France a cocktail lounge act on the Majesty? He is busy producing and being an agent for a few rock group among other things.. thank you to all of you for great times.....

Tom is just an all around great guy. He and his wife Susan (who was a sales manager for Dolphin/Majesty) are a great couple. Tom worked for a couple of cruise lines as a sales manager and his last job was with Costa. He's left the cruise side and is a tour escort. I'm sure he is doing a great job there too

Although not employees of any cruise lines - my wife and I took our first cruise together in September '91 (Eastern Caribbean) on S.S. Azure Seas when she was still with Admiral Lines. We then took the kids with us in May '96 on S.S. SeaBreeze, (Western Caribbean) by then both ships being with Dolphin.

Both times we had a BLAST! The ships were small, but comfortable and we got to know a lot of people.

About a week ago, wondering whatever happened to them I searched the Net for any info and found ouot that Azure Seas a.k.a. OceanBreeze was sold for scrap in 2004 :( http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/SouthernCrossPC02s.html

the info on SeaBreeze, however is more confusing. The ship I sailed on was a 2-funnel ship (Trust me - I have PLENTY of pictures). But the only thing I can find on Dolphin Lines' SeaBreeze is a one-funneled ship! Some reports say she went down in December 2000 http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FCP/is_5_22/ai_71821966

and some indicated that she is still in service.

In any case, if it is the one-funneled ship - that's not the one I was on! And no matter what I try - I cant seem to find that ship (nor as SeaBreeze nor as anything else prior or after). Anyone can help?

I met a cruise director "Jeff" on the SeaDream I, over a year ago. He showed me photos of his twin brother! If is is the same person you are looking for, he left the ship last year due to the need to care for a sick parent, I believe. Check with the Seadream home office;they might know.

Hi......also not a former cruise line employee. The ship that went down as

she was being towed off the coast of Virginia was the Seabreeze, the original

Premier cruise ship named Starship Royale. Our first cruise was on the Royale

in April of 1984, the 4th week Premier sailed. We had gone to an open

house in March before the first sailing, and were so impressed by the beauty

of that old ship. I was heartsick to read she had sunk. The crew that was

aboard all got off safely, and then they watched her go down. I also sailed

on Emerald Seas and the little Dolphin out of Miami. Those were the days.

I love the new big ships, QM2, etc., but nothing can ever come close to

the charming intimate old ships in the 80s and 90s.

Parrot Mom,

Funny you should mention Robert and Mandy. They are two of my very best friends, and Faline and I will be staying with them in Boca for a lot of our vacation this month and next. They are two of the sweetest people.

Robert doesn produce some acts, and he and Mandy still perform a few times a week in the Boca area. They played in my band for a while when I was on land from 97-2005. Great folks.

Hi there, if you still read this, I sail with the dolphin IV from Augost 1998 to Dec. 2000. I signed off after the ship was stopped, I think it should be scrap by now.

I really miss that old lady... and of course I have very good memories.

Well I'll be around, my mail is capitanramirez@gmail.com...

Bye then.

Juan.

Hi, I was a cruise staff member for Dolpin & Premier cruise lines from summer 96 to summer 98. Just wondering if there's anyone else here from that time? I'm just feeling sentimental I guess. :)

Hello Marycruiser7 and everybody,

I just read some of you worked on the OceanBreezer and I would like to ask if you met cruise director Gil Sevil. As far as I know, he was working on OceanBreeze in 1996 (Nassau, Port Lucaya) and on Premier-Oceanic2 in 1998 I think. I don't know where we has worked after that, nor his itinerary.

I hope someone knows what he is doing now and how can I contact him (e-mail, telephone, city...)

I would be really grateful!
