Lunch in St Barts

Good evening from Toronto, Canada.

Allow me to recommend a place we've eaten numerous times in St Barths.

It's a hotel called Hotel St. Barths Iles de France. Great boutique hotel.

They will allow you to use the beach and chairs after lunch. The beach is glorious. Make sure you request to use the beach after lunch when you make your reservations. Enjoy!!!!

Have fun and let us know how you enjoyed it!

Bon Appetit!

Much of St. Barths closes down on Sunday.

Personally, I just like to grab the original "cheeseburger in paradise" at Le Select and watch the world go by.

One recommendation I always make is to go to the top of the hill overlooking the airstrip and watch the planes coming in for a landing. Quite the experience, though not quite as thrilling as being on the plane. It's a harrowing approach to a tiny strip. You can watch YouTube video

(non-successful landing aka overrun) ,
(cockpit and land video - very experienced Winair pilot), HERE (aerial shots),
(takeoffs and landings) and
(includes aerial shot of harbor area).

As Scott says the Hotel St. Barths is a lovely place. WE spent two weeks on St. Bart's a few years ago and as I recall there's a terrific little fish restaurant right on the beach at St. Jean's. It's the most populated beach on the island but still lovely to eat and watch the water.

I wouldn't recommend any of the places downtown; they're overpriced and the food isn't that great. We rented a car for the day and toured the island with another couple. There are a couple of bakeries and restaurants around the island that are open on Sunday and they have pretty darn good food. We ate at a small bakery/restaurant on the way out to the observation point on the northwest end of the island and the food was fantastic; a really pleasant surprise.
