Jenbo57 Posted September 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2009 Ok, I know that I could probably find this on each of the cruise lines' web site, but I figured that there must be at least one ship junkie on CC who knows this off the top of his or her head... How do the Carnival Dream, Norwegian Epic and Oasis of the Seas compare, size wise? Trying to decide whether or not to book one of these behemoths... Thanks! Harry and Lucille Posted September 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2009 Check the cruise lines websites. Will have info on the ships you are looking at. Hope this helps. Harry
fann1sh Posted September 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2009 I don't know this stuff off the top of my head, but you got me curious.... Carnival Dream: 128,000 tons, 1001 feet, 3646 passengers Norwegian Epic: 153,000 tons, 1068 feet, 4,200 pax Oasis of the Seas: 220,00 tons, 1,181 feet, 5,400 pax
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Sounds like big, bigger and biggest, or almost biggest. Keith

The real full full amount is between 20-30% more. plus crew.
AlanAllyn Posted September 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Note that tonnage is a measure of space. The ratio of space/person Dream 35.1 Epic 36.4 Oasis 40.7 With all those extra people, the Oasis is likely to be the least crowded.
PeterPan Posted September 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2009 the nauticalcities dot com website allows you to compare ships. Pictures are displayed "to scale" for each ship. There is also a fact sheet available for each ship. Pretty cool site! Just click on one of my countdowns.
flamomo Posted September 22, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2009 I would not choose any of those 3 BECAUSE they are so huge and accomodate SO many passengers. I just finished a cruise on a ship that was 950 feet long and carried 2700 passengers, Even though it really didn't feel crowded, that was about as many fellow passengers as I want to sail with. Personal preference, I know!
Jenbo57 Posted September 22, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Thanks, Fann1sh (and everyone else who chimed in), for doing my homework for me! :D Holy cow...I don't know what to think! Part of me feels, as does flamomo, that they're just too big. But another part says I just gotta see at least one of them! I think the Oasis is TOO big. Just got a brochure from NCL that's all about the Epic; it's got some amazing features, and the prices I've looked at aren't bad at all. But we like Carnival, too. *Sigh* It may come down to just flipping a coin, since all three of them are doing similar Caribbean itineraries! yesaccasey Posted September 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Whew. They are big! I am hoping the Dream and Epic aren't too big. I can just imagine the boarding/tendering/crowds on the Oasis! Oh, and a tip to anyone booking the new ships: I went with both the Dream and the Epic for the price of the Oasis alone..... That's how I narrowed it down :)

pg. Posted September 23, 2009 #12 Share Posted September 23, 2009 We love the big ships, the bigger the better to us.. but if Oasis is charging that much more then other two, I would choose next price down!
CapeCodCruiser Posted September 23, 2009 #13 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Big, Bigger & Holy Cr@p!!!!!
cruiserbryce Posted September 23, 2009 #14 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Epic and Dream are big but Oasis is giant! The pics of her by herself are nice but seeing it next to a bus or at a dock near people really puts it into perspective
