minncruisers Posted September 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2009 I'd like to avoid the wait for a treadmill and want to know if there's a best time to go to the gym to avoid this.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO minncruisers: I like to go first thing in the morning when the gym opens at 0600 hours. Very few people are there then. oakleys Posted September 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2009 5:02AM if you leave it as late as 5:05AM you will have a long wait :D just kidding, ok on a cruise i found quite a few people who it seems have never seen a treadmill so walk 1mph incase they fall off. So go early like 6ish. You are prob better off running round the deck instead.
MrCruzeaddict Posted September 30, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2009 The best time to go to the gym is a port day. Everybody is off the ship, so you can go anytime that you want because NOBODY is there! :) When finished, get cleaned up and go ashore! Senoj84 Posted September 30, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2009 I usually go in the middle of the day like between 1-3pm and I never have any problems waiting for a machine.
pe4all Posted September 30, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Every ship I have been on (except Fantasy) has had a line up for treadmills between 6 and 6:30 a.m. - sometimes to the point where I grab an elliptical instead. Dh goes to the gym around 7:30-8 a.m., and has no problem getting a machine of any kind. If he skips his morning workout, he goes to the gym between 2 and 3 pm, and walks right on the treadmill. salty dingo Posted September 30, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Any time there are free drinks being served is a good time to be in the gym. Also, during port visits.
pokergirl34 Posted September 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2009 We will be using the gym on the Valor but if I'm up at 6:00 it will be to get ready for port...so we will try it out in the evening after dinner or around 3 or so on sea days. I will report how we do with those times when we get back.

Mrs.C05 Posted October 1, 2009 #13 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Last cruise, my husband and I went after dinner, around 8 or 8:30pm and there was hardly anyone in there. If there were, it was employees getting their workouts in. Never had a problem getting on any machine.
sjcruiser Posted October 1, 2009 #14 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Mid-day seemed to work for me along with port days. We got off the Glory, did a little shopping, made some calls home, and then hit the gym, saunas and whirlpool which were all empty. About two hours later, I guess everyone had the same idea and it became very crowded. we then hit the deck to lay out in the sun for a bit. We had our choice of any deck chair we wanted. pooh/tigger Posted October 1, 2009 #15 Share Posted October 1, 2009 What are the hours? On another website, someone said the gym opens once you leave port and doesn't close until you get back.
