jaxson Posted January 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Happy New Year to all! We are sailing on the Zuiderdam in March and was wondering if she has been refitted with the new beds and flat screen TV's? Cheers
doone Posted January 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2005 When in March are you sailing? I will be onboard March 12th.

Orcrone Posted January 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Jaxson, To answer your question I don't think that those SOE enhancements will be available on March 26 (especially the flat screen TVs). I'm also on the same sailing. Why don't you stop by the Zuiderdam March 26 roll call thread and say hi.
doone Posted January 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Too bad I won't be able to meet up with you both on the Zuiderdam, BUT, I promise to take good care of her for your sailing. Have a great cruise.
since1982 Posted January 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Anyone have the schedule for the "enhancements" on the Zuiderdam? We are sailing in August.
Stevedan Posted January 6, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2005 We just got off the Zuiderdam on 12/30. There were no flat screen TVs yet. I don't think they had the new mattresses, although the beds were the most comfortable ones we've had on any ship! (Cabin 5072, Verandah Deck). Please email me with any questions about the ship. MsJ Posted January 7, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2005 Hi...How was Cabin 5027?? We are in cabin 5077 in February.......can't wait....this is our first time on HAL......my sister and BIL cruised with HAL last year and highly recommended it..they were on the Veendam I think.....anyway....just wondering how you like your cabin Thanks, Marianne
CamilleandNick Posted January 7, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 7, 2005 I had previously noted that the Zuiderdam schedule took her out of commision for a few weeks...I cannot recall when; but, it does seem like late January and early February. We are sailing on March 12th. I read on another post that the Zaandam is going to be undergoing the updates. Perhaps the Zuidie is too. I hope so. I saw that the schedule looks like she sails every week after our cruise.

'Since82 : Great cruising history! Much of the same as mine and I am originally from Chicago (suburbs, however). Check out my cruising résumé here .. some great, classic ships! http://www.shipcafe.net/shipcafe/shipcafe.htm Steve
latrn220 Posted January 7, 2005 #12 Share Posted January 7, 2005 I was just looking on the Holland Americas website and it does not have the Zui down for any sailings the 1st 3 weeks of January. So I am guess the updates are being done now? At least I am hoping since I am sailing the 5th of March :)
spcl4cs_gal Posted January 7, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 7, 2005 It sure will be nice if the Zuiderdam in having her renovations done this month...just in time for my March cruise! :D
Sierrachik Posted January 8, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 8, 2005 It sure will be nice if the Zuiderdam in having her renovations done this month...just in time for my March cruise! :D One of the concierge ladies told us last October that the Zui was going into drydock in January in Jacksonville. When I posted that after my return, I was informed I was mistaken. It seems the information may have been accurate after all if there are no sailings scheduled for the Zui part of this month. We sail on her again next October, I wonder if any changes will be made to her aside from routine maintenance or SOE improvements.
spcl4cs_gal Posted January 8, 2005 #15 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Hmmm Lois is in Jacksonville...wonder if she's seen the ship or knows anything about the drydock situation up there.
Rare Lois R Posted January 8, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Hi Alison:) I have no inkling about anything.......unless she is being used as a "Floating Hotel" for the SuperBowl. HAL is one of the cruiselines they are using for Hotel rooms on the River. But, no I haven't seen her...haven't been down by where they will be docking....it is not anywhere near where I travel around town. Hope you had a Happy New Year:)
Cruising Jake Posted January 8, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 8, 2005 We were on the 11/27 Zuiderdam cruise and our steward told us that she is going to be used as a floating hotel for the Super Bowl.
jaxson Posted January 9, 2005 Author #18 Share Posted January 9, 2005 The Z is hosting a Sold Out "Jazz Cruise" at the end of January 1-15 thru 1-22! I hope they ARE planning to implement upgrades, bot obviously not that week.
jaxson Posted January 9, 2005 Author #19 Share Posted January 9, 2005 The week of the Super Bowl there will be 5 cruise ships serving as hotels; The Radisson Seven Seas, Carnival Miracle and from HAL.. the Zuiderdam, Zaandam and the Volendam. Not exactly drydock!!
spcl4cs_gal Posted January 9, 2005 #20 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Happy New Year to you too! :D Too bad about the non-drydock issue but I guess it will happen sometime. The last time I was on board she seemed a bit rough around the edges.
