Adventure of the Seas - own laptop in Internet cafe /WLAN hotspots ?

Hello all,

 

is is possible to use your own laptop in the Internet cafe onboard the Adventure of the Seas? I might need to use several programs (like a e.g. VPN client, some which need a connection to work, etc.) and would like to use my own computer to go online. Are there WLAN hotspots on board?

I believe using your own laptop is fine, but if you need internet capability you have to purchase minutes. Something about registering first, so you can connect.

Yes, you can use your own laptop on the ship. There are several wireless hot spots located throughout the ship. You will have to purchase internet minutes at a rate of about $.50/minute depending on how many minutes you buy.

The cost for Wi-Fi access through your own laptop is:

Base rate is $.55 per minute or choose from one of our prepaid packages:

$28.00 for 60 minutes

$38.00 for 90 minutes

$55.00 for 150 minutes

We just came back from the Adventure on Sunday. We brought our laptop with to use the Wi-Fi. Obviously we had to pay per minute of use but the laptop was a lot faster than the computers on board (saving the minutes used). However, we had a lot of problems with logging in and getting access. It was extremely frustrating and I noted it on the guest survey. Everyone in our group was complaining about access and trying to log in. It took my cousin 13 minutes to be able to log in and she was charged for those 13 minutes. We were very disappointed in the internet access on this ship.
