Coolmama_1 Posted December 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2009 I think that sometimes people believe that because they are on vacation, they are safe. You have to be careful everywhere. Sad, but true.

jocap Posted December 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Ah- there is a lot of pickpocketing in Barcelona, but violent crime doesn't seem too frequent, esp. against tourists. Any violence in many European cities seems to be aimed at gangs of youths, druggies etc. Our friend, who runs a bar in central Bcn, says that there's less drunken fighting than he's seen in UK cities. And,of course, it's rare that anyone has a gun.- jocap.

Where? The Caribbean? You guys still fooling yourselves re. this silly 1960's notion of an attainable Paradise on this planet? Come on. Time to grow up. Get over it -it's 2010, OK? Life may be a bit simpler down here but this entire region is used by the drug-trafficking bastards and you'll get the occasional unpleasant consequences. Turn those street smarts on, and stop fooling yourselves please.. By all means enjoy our islands, but don't pretend you're in Heaven -or in Paradise. That's just plain silly and you know better than that. .

We have to deal with crime, and all that stuff in our lives too, but the Caribbean sells itself as "Paradise". If we want fear and crime, we will stay home. Aplmac Posted January 21, 2010 #12 Share Posted January 21, 2010 I hate to tell you but tourists want an attainable Paradise for vacation. ===> Good luck!We have to deal with crime, and all that stuff in our lives too, but the Caribbean sells itself as "Paradise". ===> Madison Avenue blurb? If we want fear and crime, we will stay home. ===> Enjoy! . And you believe the advertising. Much as we down here believe that America and Canada are still all shiny and new and perfect -and full of opportunity and equality. :D How we love to fool ourselves, huh? ...constantly seeking Susan? Don't believe a word of it, on either side of the geography. It's 2010 -time to get real about planetary conditions generally. .
