Sobering news article

Ah- there is a lot of pickpocketing in Barcelona, but violent crime doesn't seem too frequent, esp. against tourists. Any violence in many European cities seems to be aimed at gangs of youths, druggies etc. Our friend, who runs a bar in central Bcn, says that there's less drunken fighting than he's seen in UK cities. And,of course, it's rare that anyone has a gun.- jocap.

The headline reads "When crime comes to Paradise"

Paradise? Where? The Caribbean?

You guys still fooling yourselves re. this silly 1960's notion of an attainable Paradise on this planet?

Come on. Time to grow up. Get over it -it's 2010, OK?

Life may be a bit simpler down here

but this entire region is used by the drug-trafficking bastards

and you'll get the occasional unpleasant consequences.

Turn those street smarts on, and stop fooling yourselves please..

By all means enjoy our islands, but don't pretend you're in Heaven -or in Paradise.

That's just plain silly and you know better than that.

I hate to tell you but tourists want an attainable Paradise for vacation. We have to deal with crime, and all that stuff in our lives too, but the Caribbean sells itself as "Paradise". If we want fear and crime, we will stay home.

And you believe the advertising.

Much as we down here believe

that America and Canada are still all shiny and new and perfect -and full of opportunity and equality. :D

How we love to fool ourselves, huh? ...constantly seeking Susan?

Don't believe a word of it, on either side of the geography.

It's 2010 -time to get real about planetary conditions generally.
