NCL cutback predictions for 2011

No they don't but the fuel surcharge was an advertised "feature" - should be no surprise. The others were a surprise. I don't mind expected surprises and I can pre-plan for them - I don't like unexpected surprises.

If you want to look at it that way Freestyle 2.0 never fully came to fruition and that was advertised and still is.

Were just gonna have to sit in the terminal with a bottle of real Champagne, instead of that plastic corked muck they pass out and get wired prior to boarding :)

Finally, a useful suggestion.:)

No more 24 hour free food; Blue Lagoon, etc. closed between 12 midnight and 6 AM. Plus a surcharge for room service during these hours.

All showers have a timer and coin slot; bring your quarters.

No more soap and shampoo dispensers; bring the samples from your pre-cruise hotel.

No more electric plug ins; bring plenty of batteries.

Refrigerators, bathrobes, and hair dryers removed from all cabins.

NCL will not purchase the promised bath curtains on the Epic. You will have to see your cabin mates in the au natural.

The lobster tails will be replaced by crawdads and the only fish available will be carp.

Chicken fried steak with mashed taters will be the chef special.

There will be no pool bands; just 80's disco cassettes played on a boom box.

You can not get off in a port without being on a NCL sponsored tour.

You must buy at least five copies of every photo taken of you by the ships photographers.

No power between 12 midnight and 6 AM; the ship will just drift with the waves overnight; so pack a flashlight.

I would love to have chicken fried steak, would be way better than some of the crap that is served, on a few of the ships MDRs i've been in.

The NCL Board annouced this morning that the Freestyle "brand" will be dispensed with ASAP, and the new Paystyle branding will be introduced across the fleet.

Let's turn this around a bit. What about more entertainment after the second show lets out? On Princess and RCL they have a fun piano bar that's open until around 1pm. Lots of thirsty singing people ordering lots of beverages equals lots of extra revenue. I've never seen one of those bars empty! Spinnaker can be fun but always seems to wind down and empty out at 11:30pm and there's nowhere to go after that so the potential revenue goes to bed!

I sooooo agree!!! Aboard Majesty the husband and I laughed all the way out of the MDR convinced the steak must have been beaver tail.

We went back to our room and ordered a tuna sandwich from room service, at least we could chew it!

No power between midnight and 6AM probably won't work too well. The trial on the Dawn last November was not liked too well. ;)

How about this? Meters on cabin water and electric feeds. Potable water is $2/gallon, Hot water $5/gallon, electric is $1.65 per kWh.

Internet access is unlimited! Just there is one catch! Data is charged by the kilobyte at $0.50.

Shows will continue however they will be sponsored. The doors will be closed and you will be made to sit through a presentation on time sharing. Walk outs will be charged a waived cover charge of $25 per person.

People will be allowed to skip the regular muster drill by watching it on a video in the casino within 24 hours of departure. This will cost $25 per person, however. You can waive this fee if you're willing to take a time slip mandating two hours of table games!

Cheers,

Norman

I'd just rather they added the fuel surcharge than start removing features - Its not just the bubbly.

1. Bubbly

2. Mints

3. Latte machines in buffet

4. Complimentry latte's after dinner

5. Coffee makers

6. Self service laundry facilities

I also now no longer see references on ncl.com to the 3 to 6 bottles of complimentry liquer for higher end suites...

WHOA! Slow down! I don't care about any of the items mentioned above (except maybe being able to press my clothes after boarding)....so why are you suggesting I should have to pay hundreds of dollars extra in fuel charges?

Were just gonna have to sit in the terminal with a bottle of real Champagne, instead of that plastic corked muck they pass out and get wired prior to boarding :)

So, if you uncork the champagne in the terminal...do you still have to pay a corkage fee?

Then this thread, which is about cutbacks...would start to look a lot like the OTHER thread which is about things you'd like to see.
