Which inside cabin?

We'll be going on a Princess Cruise (Sapphire), and it will be our first cruise. Due to budget restraints, we'll be getting an inside cabin. A friend recommended we stay on the plaza deck---because it's a nice level that shares the Atrium lobby area on Deck five. Your thoughts?

Thanks,

dsal

They are great cabins, quiet and convenient to the Piazza and Dining Rooms.

Leave your TV switched to the Webcam channel, turn down the volumne, put a towel over the screen and you have a nice curtained window.

Good idea, and they are not all under the casino/theater (most are not) and I have never heard a noise issue with any cabins on Plaza deck.

The only problem we've had with cabins were the ones located near the theater, either one floor up or down. We avoid those like the plague now. Best bet is to find a cabin with other cabins on the floors above and below. We really enjoyed our inside cabins on Island and Golden. In both cases, the cabins were near an outside observation area. It only took a few steps to be outside. (Aft observation areas have less wind and were wonderful for Alaska.)

We've had one inside cabin on Baja Deck, mid-ship. It was so nice, close to everything and easy to get to whether we were in the Lido or at the theatre.

Bring some flameless candles and leave them on. They leave a nice light in the room......the worst part of an inside cabin is the "hybernating" feeling. You can lose all track of time and sleep away the days and nights. [Actually for some this might be perfect!]

Have a wonderful trip. You don't spend that much time in your cabin......unless, as I said above, you're the hybernating type.

I like the ones at the very aft on Aloha. You are only steps away from the aft pool deck and close to the buffet. (FYI I never heard any noise from there) I also find the aft elevators much easier to catch than those midship

Great idea about the flameless candles! I have some of these--and it wouldn't have occured to me to bring them. A definite will-do!

My wife and I had inside cabin B327 on the Sapphire. It's a great mid-ship location, between two sets of elevators. Plus, there are cabins above and below, so there was no noise problem.

This is exactly the cabin I was talking about........great location. And, in Real Estate it's all about location, location, location!

We always book inside cabins, but on the Lido deck. We love being on the same deck as the pool, buffet, MUTS, pizza, etc. It is the most expensive inside cabin though. (category II) We're never in our cabin anyway, so it's not a big deal for us. We'd rather use the extra $$ for shore excursions or some nice momentos.

This is an interesting thread - I was booked in an inside cabin on Plaza deck(for previous cruise), and got upgraded. I always thought that an inside on Plaza would be a good place to be.

I'm now booked for an inside on Riviera deck - seems really nice, close to pools and Horizon Court.

We are also taking an inside cabin for the first time in 18 cruises. We will be on the Crown Princess in April and also took the category II inside cabin that was the most expensive inside cabin.

We will be on the Riviera Deck and took cabin R-407. We were told that this cabin, along with 5 others on this deck were larger inside cabins than any other inside cabin on the ship, and it has a better layout.

Not sure if any of this is true, so I guess we will find out. I did notice on the deck plan diagram, that this cabin is bigger than other inside cabins. Cannot wait to find out.

This is why I booked R508 on the Emerald for our next cruise. It is also Category II inside. Let us know what you find out!

We had 2 insides on Baja deck on the Sapphire- 241 & 237. They were slightly forward of the elevators. We did feel some movement a couple of nights, but the location was good - close to stairs/elevators and not noisy at all.

I will let you know for sure how the cabin is. We cruise toward the end of April. I know the cabin is dead center of the ship and from the deck plans, just like your 508 cabin, it would seem like it is in a fairly quiet area of the ship.

I hope someone else has cruised before on the Riviera deck in cabin R-408 or a similar cabin so they can let us know if we are correct in assuming from others, that these few inside cabins are indeed bigger and laid out better.

I also made a correction....we are on the Riviera deck and not the Caribe in cabin R-407.

I would think all the inside cabins would look pretty much like that one. In fact, we had an inside cabin on the Star the year before, and it was practically a clone of our cabin on the Sapphire.

We usually book insides. My hubby actually prefers the darkness (he used to work graveyard and slept during the day so he put blackout curtains in our bedroom). On a cruise, we'll often put on the bridgecam channel. When you wake up, you can see if it's light outside.

Also, we would leave the bathroom light on with the door ajar. Nice for those middle of the night trips (I try to bring a little flashlight with me to keep by my pillow -- a result of too many middle of the night earthquakes).

On our Sapphire cruise to Alaska, we were on the Caribe deck, far forward. A nice cabin for us. Even though our dining room was on the other side of the ship along with the kids' area. We did get plenty of exercise on that cruise.:)
