FLL: Where can we buy wine near Westin Beach Resort?

We're staying at the Westin Beach Resort for a couple of nights before our Eurodam cruise next month. We'll take a taxi from airport to hotel, and hotel to port (want to relax on the beach, and not rent a car). But we would like to buy some wine to take on the ship for the cruise, and have no idea what's available in the area near the hotel. We've never been to Ft Lauderdale before.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I don't recall any Walgreens in the area. If you walk north a few blocks, you will find a small convenience store in the coffee shop/bakery on the SE corner of the Hilton; they sell bottles of wine but they are pricey. If you walk about a half mile south, you will find a CVS on the lower level of Beach Place; they have a small selection of wines and sparkling wines.

  • 5 months later...

If you are out and about, these are not near your hotel but Crown Wine and Liquor is on Cordova about 100' north of the intersection with 17th St. Total Wine is about a block south on Cordova from the same intersection... somewhat behind the Embassy Suites.

You will find some wine in the CVS a few blocks south of the Westin at Beach Place.

Also past Beach Place at Las Olas Blvd turn right on Las Olas and a few stores down on the same side of the street you will find a small liquor store. The also had wine but I honestly don't remember what kind of selection of wine they had since we always do my third selection below.

If the days before your cruise are Friday, Sat, or Sun you can walk a few blocks south to the Casablanca Cafe where the road Y's - hard to describe but you WILL understand when you see it. If you just walk down a bit to the "right" road of the Y (vehicles driving south must take this street which is the direction the trolley will go to get to where you wish to go will be headed) you can wait anywhere and flag down the 17th Street Sun Trolley which runs those days from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Sun Trolley will take you to the Publix Grocery Store and Total Wine which is beside Publix off of 17th Street. The fare is, if I remember correctly $1 pp each direction. The regular Sun Trolley stop is in front of the Publix grocery store so it is VERY easy to catch the ride back to the Casablanca Cafe.

The Sun Trolley's will have signs either saying Las Olas OR 17th Street and the 17th St is the one you want. Very friendly drivers and very easy to do. May have to wait a few minutes for the Trolley to come past and just wave them to stop for you but very worth the wait for one to come along. The first time we were in Ft Lauderdale doing this sounded a bit confusing but when we attempted it we found it to be VERY easy and have done it each time we're in Ft Lauderdale.

If you find the wine you wish in the CVS than no need to take the Sun Trolley to Total Wine but Total Wine has a MUCH larger selection and their prices are decent too.

Here's the Sun Trolley's website http://www.suntrolley.com/maplasolas/ showing their route map.

Hope you enjoy Ft Lauderdale as much as we do!:)
