MichaelinME Posted March 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Overall good cruise! If anyone has any questions, i am here to answer. Nice, clean ship, lots to do, so little time!! Many activities for all. Food, generally good to very good in Dining Rooms, except the Buffet (Average at best). Lots of deck chairs, and 2 large pools for a ship this size! Norwegian Sky, good value for price paid.
Rare CruisinCrow Posted March 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Glad you had a good cruise! I'm really looking forward to being on Sky next month. Did you try the food in Longboards? What was on their menu? What entertainment did you attend/enjoy? Did you make it to Great Stirrup Cay?

MichaelinME Posted March 12, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted March 12, 2010 Hi All, Sorry for the delay in getting back to all your questions. Anyway, i did not try longboards. But did try the rest of the dining venues. What i liked ,is that the Palace Dining Room was open on embarkation day, instead of eating in the buffet. Do try this, the food was great!, and service was also good! You do not need to deal with the crowds, and the food is better, less choice, but much better than the buffet! Do not give your money to the Bingo games. Not worth it! Payouts are very small! And they intice you a $3,000 to $ 4,000 jackpot that no one ever wins. you need to get a cover all bingo in 46 numbers or else to win. Chances are virtually impossible. The ship is clean, and pretty. THe shows at night, ranged from a welcome aboard show, with Singers and Dancers. :Soul Rockin" nights. Very good show, lots of energy, worth seeing. THat same evening is the South Beach Party in Dazzles, thats fun! THe second night, was a comedian named Rich, he was very funny!! Worth seeing, and that same night, the white hot party!! THat was interesting, lots of dancing including the singers and dancers , dancing beside you for about an hour. (cool) IF you want an intimate evening dinner, Lebistro!! well worth every penny!! On board buffet , was lackluster. They did not have a good variety, and action stations were tight, crowds. What alot of people do not know, is that there is another Buffet outside called the great outdoor cafe. Serves same food as the inside buffet, plus little other extras! Plus the seating outside, feels like you are eating in an outside street Cafe with beautiful aft views!! Rooms service menu, is pretty good! Service was prompt! If you want good service in the dining room. The Palace dining room is better! Plus the food in the dining rooms is overall much better than the buffets. Eat in the dining rooms! It's free and they serve lobster one of the nights, and shrimp and other seafoods. Along with steaks! Deserts were great!! I had three desserts each night so i could taste them. Casino, tight!! If you want a chance of winning money, enter the tournaments!! I watched a few people really win some serious cash! I hope this helps.
bagpiper51 Posted March 12, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2010 thanks so much for the review and comments about your cruise on the sky. my wife, son and myself are going on it in may and i have been a tad apprehensive after reading some of the comments people have made about her. of course i know that happy people are less apt to compliment as often as unhappy people are to bitch. again, thanks :)
luvmysox1 Posted March 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 12, 2010 Thank you for the info. One question, I heard that there is a safe place to place your carryon while waiting for the cabins. Is this true? Just wondering, I'll probably go to dinning room at embarkment. Usually do the buffet, but one person has to watch the bags until the others come back. I really hate that. hannibal54 Posted March 12, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2010 Yes socks lover, as you wind through the ship there will be a guy stationed there that will check in any carry ons that you have. I checked my lap top and carry on bag. It sure is nice not having to haul that stuff around. After you get to you room just go back and claim your bags and away you go. Have a great cruise. MichaelinME Posted March 12, 2010 Author #13 Share Posted March 12, 2010 Breakfast in the dining room, is excellent!! It is the most extensive breakfast menu i have ever seen in 42 cruises!! Do go and eat breakfast in Dining room. The pools on this ship are huge!! And 4 jacuzzis are clustered together under a canopy in between the pools. Very nice! Lots of deck space. There is an attendant to leave your carry-on luggage with. As you come aboard and walk down the hall. There is a bar/lounge right before Dazzles night club, attended by staff. They will gladly take your luggage and keep it in a safe place. When your ready, you come back and claim it. Nice, free perk! Enjoy, your cruise. Ship is clean, lots of variety for food, and staff overall very friendly. Strike a conversation with them. They love to talk and get to know you! MichaelinME Posted March 13, 2010 Author #20 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Anyone tell me about the Sjy's inside cabin space? Thinking of taking my sister and just wanted an inside cabin; any larger than normal? Which deck is preferred? Category II are inside cabins that are larger, about 152sq.ft. Category JJ or below is rather small , about 122 sq.ft. very small. But really, your only in the cabin to shower and sleep. Too much to see and do! MichaelinME Posted March 13, 2010 Author #21 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Is there a putt putt course onboard? Thanks! No putt putt course that i saw? Maybe one exists, but did walk the whole ship and did not see one.
MichaelinME Posted March 13, 2010 Author #22 Share Posted March 13, 2010 How much were the photos? How about the specialty restaurants? What kind of room did you stay in? We stayed in a category II Inside cabin. Plenty of space, closet space and good size bathroom. The photos were $19.95 ... Specialty restaurants.........II adagio was $10.00 per person!!! Well worth it. All Italian Cagneys was $30.00 each.....LeBistro was $25.00 each!! WE worth it!! LeBistro is gorgeous, and is french/mediteranean ....try the filet mignon with mushroom and wine sauce. So much choices and the deserts, you will fall of your chair!
MichaelinME Posted March 13, 2010 Author #23 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Even though it didn't pay, how much was it to play Bingo? The minimum price for playing bingo was $20.00 ...all the way up to $35.00 depending on amount of cards purchased.
