? re Tamarind reservations

I understand that lunch at the Tamarind is free.

Do you make reservations and how?

For evening, what is the price per person and again, how do I go about making reservations?

Is it possible on Embarkation Day to do this? Info regarding the process would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Unless something has changed, since December you need to make your reservations after embarking. Lunch is free but you do need a reservation. I believe it was $15:00 or $20:00 for dinner.

Tamarind a great venue with great food an service.

Lunch has never been very crowded. Pick up the phone and make a reservation on the day you are planning to attend.

You can also make a reservation any time prior to that. It's a great lunch at a great price.

$15 pp for dinner from the menu, $20 for Rijsttafel. You can make dinner (not lunch) reservations at Ship Services 800-541-1576 or on line: HAL site > For Booked Guests > On Board Gifts > (login, choose gift recipients) > Make Restaurant Reservations. When you go to specify the time, there will be one set for the Pinnacle and a second set for the Tamarind.

Lunch reservations must be made on board.

We already have Tamarind reservations on a ship that hasn't been launched yet! :)

I suggest calling, or just going up to the Tamarind shortly after boarding to make lunch reservations, especially if you wish to have lunch there on a sea day. Lunches filled as well as dinners when we were on the Eurodam last summer.

what a great group of posters we have here--quick responses with all my questions answered.

will go on line and book (esp. for the Pinnacle!) but also want to take advantage of the Tamarind!

any special dishes that you recommend?

another ?: for the Tamarind dinners and for Pinnacle, do the menus change from day to day or will they be the same for let's say, a week, then change?

The PG menu changes a little every few years. The Tamarind, being less than 2 yrs old, hasn't changed yet.

DH liked the Wasabi steak, I liked the seafood Hotpot (or whatever it's called)

Thanks!

Rijsttafel is a Dutch word and stands for 'rice table' - It's usally a sampler of Indonesian foods such as Sate Ayam (sliced chicken on a skewer, served in peanut sauce), Nasi Goreng, different meat samplers/beef sumatra, chicken drumstick, krupuk (shrimp crackers) - on land in Indonesian restaurants, it is erved with other small dishes -like fried green beansDH loves the Sambal sauce!! It't very HOT!!

Double-click on the attached pdf to see the Tamarind Rijsttafel menu. You get everything on the menu. In some places you get many small side plates' date=' but in the Tamarind you get one very large plate (see pic) with the rice in the center. The waitresses come by in a parade, each one giving a serving of each dish. The menu is left of the table the entire time so that you can refer to it if you forget what you're eating! Just one thing was very spicy, and the rest ranged from bland to medium spicy.

When we were on the Eurodam you either had to have a minimum of 4 people, or you had to go on a "group" night. Then one half of the restaurant is order-from-menu and the other half is Rijsttafel, so everyone at your table has to have it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there!! The variety of taste sensations was just incredible! Loved the chocolate dessert to finish the evening!

With the lunch though would recommend making reservations ASAP once on board. We smartly made reservations for dinner ASAP for both this and the Pinnacle Grill but forgot to ask about lunch. By the time we went to do it our only choice was the last full day of the trip which conflicted with our stop in the beautiful Half Moon Cay so we never got to experience it:(
