curacao Posted September 14, 2010 #51 Share Posted September 14, 2010 C-the second link is not working. Do they both have snorkeling? Which one is better for snorkeling? Just look up the HOT keys as I did which was Holiday Beach Curacao...then you can probably get their web page. Yes they both have great snorkeling. DiveVersity Dive Shops are at both beaches just in case you don't have your own gear. Nice bunch of dive folks. I don't prefer one over the other as I have not been on too many beaches I did not like.

cruiseapril Posted September 15, 2010 #54 Share Posted September 15, 2010 We spent a morning swimming and sunning at Blue Bay. We would enjoy going back there for a week.
Travel Bear Posted September 19, 2010 #55 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks for the updated link. It did work but when I checked on the beach it says it is a private beach: Curaçao Private Beach Considered by some as the ‘Crown Jewel’ of the Holiday Beach Resort, or our ‘Ace in the Hole’ is our private white sand beach that surrounds the semi-circular, blue lagoon. Enjoy a spectacular sunset while sipping a refreshing island beverage under the palms lining the picturesque lagoon. For guests who are staying in the cabana suites, the miraculous experience can be witnessed while lounging on your own private patio. The beach and lagoon also serve as the launch platform for the novice SCUBA enthusiasts. After graduating from the pool area, guests are encouraged to encounter the beauty of the Caribbean in this safe and secure environment. Following an open sea session, divers congregate for a toast at the Tanga beach side bar, while enjoying the traditional Caribbean music playing in the background. Is this the same one you spoke about in response the the poster with mobility issues. We will be there in October and a member of our party also has mobility issues so we want to be sure of our plans before we leave. Thanks.

They may consider the beach Private, but IF they did that NOONE would be at the bar/restaurant.!!! half of their rooms are for US Military ... plus there is a dive shop just to the west of the bar/restaurant. So go have a drink... eat and enjoy. Just tell them you are going to the Casino or Beach bar.........there won't be a problem. Mobility is not an issue here but it may be a little rough because of the pavers/bricks, but the area in the back is pretty smooth. Should not be a problem. TLHB70 Posted September 21, 2010 #57 Share Posted September 21, 2010 Hey Curacao. I know that I am jumping in off topic for just a second. I just had to tell you that your Texans are looking great this season! If only my Panthers were looking that great........ Sorry to interrupt. Now back to beach information. curacao Posted September 22, 2010 #58 Share Posted September 22, 2010 Hey Curacao. I know that I am jumping in off topic for just a second.I just had to tell you that your Texans are looking great this season! If only my Panthers were looking that great........ Sorry to interrupt. Now back to beach information. All is OK>>>LOL... I know the Texans finally are looking good, just hope it continues. 2 players down for drugs..DumbA.....'s. When I was in Curacao for a year, I missed 1 entire football season, 1 baseball season and one NASCAR season. For sports person, like me, it was almost like death having to watch only NY Yankees in Spanish, which I only did once, by mistake !!! But since I was already a diver, I dove pretty much every day/or night in Curacao. Have Tank...will Dive !!! P.S. I work for the Texans and the Astros during their given season, as a 2nd job........for fun.!

Will it be worth the drive and the cost or stay closer. We are looking for good snorkeling and beach time. Above it states a price. It this round trip or one way? per person or per taxi? Sorry just getting really really confused on all the places to pick from

Sorry just getting really really confused on all the places to pick from It is all worth it. There are other beaches/places that are closer. Hooks Hut for one....that has great snorkeling and beach time and closer to Pier. Cos Abao is a little bigger and busier. You do get to see a lot more of the island going to other beaches, but if that does not interest you at all, go close.......to Holiday Beach, Hooks Hut, Mambo Beach. It can be confusing for those going for just a day as it was tough to pick which one every weekend...for a year. Glad to be back in the States though. Good Luck on the decision making. TLHB70 Posted September 22, 2010 #61 Share Posted September 22, 2010 P.S. I work for the Texans and the Astros during their given season, as a 2nd job........for fun.! Yes, I knew that you worked for them. I asked you in another thread about it. You had mentioned in a post that you work in the football industry, or something like that. Since I am a HUGE football fan I had to ask. They are looking good this season! It must be exciting around there!

You had mentioned in a post that you work in the football industry, or something like that. Since I am a HUGE football fan I had to ask. They are looking good this season! It must be exciting around there! It is, but they allow tailgating to start 4 hours before game starts so some fans come in sloshed and have no idea that there is a football game going on.!! We have Cowboys this Sunday....let the rivalry begin. It is all in fun..only a game. I was in Curacao for a SuperBowl, when Pittsburgh won their last SuperBowl. I was the only one there wearing a LONG SLEEVE Cowboy shirt. I thought I was going to loose it...about died in the heat, but the beer was cold. I was at Holiday Beach ! hildacloake Posted October 1, 2010 #65 Share Posted October 1, 2010 Do you know if anyone can use the holiday beach, or is it only for the hotel guests. We could just walk there from the port by the sounds of it. Thanks.

Restaurant and bar are to the left. Walking distance from the pier.
hildacloake Posted October 2, 2010 #67 Share Posted October 2, 2010 from the picture it looks like you really can't get in there unless you go through the place. Could we buy just one drink and stay on the beach all day you think?

Could we buy just one drink and stay on the beach all day you think? I would think so. You do have to enter the Hotel lobby to get to the Casino, which will be on the left. continue to walk thru the area until you reach the pool, also on the left....pass the pool and the restaurant/bar is on the left. curacao Posted October 4, 2010 #70 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Thanks for all your replies...so you don't have to buy a wrist band or something when you use the beach? No .... the island is new to American Tourist somewhat. They haven't figured it out yet, like Mexico and other places have.... But they can and will make their money on food and beverages and tips. It is a nice beach and it is small.
RUDIMAY1 Posted October 10, 2010 #71 Share Posted October 10, 2010 i see an excursion taken from the cruise ship for a boat ride to van der Valk Beach. Is it only accessable by the water or can i take a taxi. How far from the cruise ship.. Most likely going to go to blue bay but it is always good to look at options. jandjfun Posted October 10, 2010 #72 Share Posted October 10, 2010 Well, I have read and reread also. I am more confused now than ever. lol!! Holiday beach. Public or private? Holiday beach, this hotel Renaissance Marriott hotel or this hotel Veneto Casino? I have a group of 20-30 people depending on me to find the best beach, close to the peir, that has a great sand beach, chairs, shade, no waves, food, drink and bathrooms. I do not want to take them someplace only to find out that we can't use the beach. That would be bad!:( We are thinking of hooks hut, but if we can save the taxi fare and go to holiday beach instead, and still have all the amenities that would be better yet. PLUS we have a couple with mobility issues as well. Advice please. I have a headache!!:D

I have a headache!!:D[/quote Marriott Beach is NOT a natural beach and it is a private beach and only accessible thru the Hotel with a room key. Holiday Beach area does belong to a hotel, but I never had to pay an access fee because I ate at their restaurant, drank at their bar. Since you have that many people and mobility issues you might want to give them a call to verify so you will know in advance. The island is not ADA certified by a long shot, as we know ADA in the states. Something to keep in mind. Hooks Hut is wonderful too, but getting on the beach may present a problem with accessiblity on to the beach. If they can get out of their chairs or scooters, then there won't be a problem. Holiday Beach is Veneto Casino............Marriott Renaissance is Carnival Casino. No waves at either beach....there are ususally no waves at any of the beaches on the south... Do drive yourself crazy........LOL....As for me>>>>> that is not a long drive.!!!!
