All Things Splendor

Recommended Posts

Thanks for everyones input..The boys are really good travelers and as far as boys go they are well behaved..My concern about the OV is being inside when they go down at 8pm..I am a nervous nelly too, but I think if we lay down the law they will be fine. When we lived in Bogota they were 3 and we were on the 5th floor they knew not to step on the balcony! We have cruised before but this will be a first with the kids..again thanks for all the good information..

is the space really tight in this cabin for 4?

Lisa, the space will be fine for the 4 of you. The cabin is 184sq.feet. It does have a sofa which is nice for your kids to sit on and watch t.v.

You will also have two bathrobes to use and a hair dryer. There are two closets or a large closet in the cabin.

Since your kids know the rules for the balcony you all will be fine.

Have fun cruising. Lucy

Just sailed last week and had an interior room on Deck 7 (Rm 7348).

I loved Deck 7 because it was only 2 below Lido and 2 above Deck 5 (access to the shops and lounges). And for those of you who just want to sail cheap - the interior had plenty of room for the two of us. Didn't feel cramped at all.

The sports bar was weird, we asked if we could watch the Dodger game and the bartender said "what is that?" We said baseball and he said he did not know. Only saw soccer most of the trip.

Thank you. Was it quiet on deck 6?

Deck 6 starboard is good midship. Deck 7 is all bedrooms. Deck 5 is your concern. The theatre is forward. Piano bar is aft. There's also the casino but mostly port side. Disco is mostly port side also.

Best if you can get deck 7 so you have bedrooms below and above.

I have deck 7 so it sounds like I made a good choice. I wish it was time for my cruise!

You're very welcome! I'm happy that so many people are posting about the Splendor. I also want to find out everything I can before my cruise.

We'll be on the Splendor for the second time in 13 months and desperatly looking forward to it!!

We had decided to book a balcony room (our first) and were lucky enough to get the Lido Deck forward. Rooms above and below, and near the spa which we plan to use as much as possible.

I too enjoy this thread and look forward to more input...good and bad.

Birches - You should have asked to speak to the Sports Bar Manager.

The crew worker bartendars like to watch soccer because it is their favorite sport.

They do have baseball and basketball, and football games on the sports bar t.v. The reason being is that those shows are televised from Denver, Colorado. The guy wanted to see soccer while he worked.

You could have watched the baseball game in your cabin t.v. too.

I love the Carnival Splendor a lot. It is like a summer home for me. I make myself at home.lol. I cruise SOLO all the time now because it is affordable. Plus, it is a fun ship more than other cruiselines. Lucy

Did you buy a spa pass on your first cruise? I'm trying to decide if I should buy one.

Last cruise we had the couples massage with the hot stones. The prior cruise (Elation 9/08) we each had regular massages and a double shave. The massage was heaven...the shave not so much.

This trip is truly about rest, relaxation and rejuvination (SO just lost his Mother). I think I remember a week long pass for $150 on the last cruise. That was a re-route, due to the H1N1, to Canada and may have only been for that voyage. The regular day-use rate is $35/day I beleive.

I plan on calling tomorrow to see if I can pre-arrange that same deal. Will report back.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your cruise helps you both to relax. I've been there and it's not easy.

Do you know if it's possible to pay in advance for a spa pass?

since this is our first cruise.. i wasn't sure what and where to book on Splendor.

so i booked window stateroom category 6A 1239 forward starbord, Riviera deck. I may upgrade to a balcony deck as time nears. we'll see.

I too am trying to learn as much as i can about Splendor before we take off.

This thread is a good idea. i have enjoyed reading it.
