Iv emailed MSC twice now teling them what I think about Egons problems . Iv emaied the custamer service and home office. that was quite a while ago . 2months maybe. As yet Iv heard nothing. I wonder if they care what past custamers or future custamers think. Anyone got any reply from MSC. I went on MSC 10 years ago to Itily , spain portugal . I wasnt impressed back then , I havent gone back on MSC . Im almost certin ill NEVER SAIL ON THEM AGAIN. I AT LEAST EXPECT A REPLY. I said in my email at least they could give him free WI FI . That would ease his problems . Most of his problems is trying to talk to us. CARL

I agree with all of you about how Egon is being treated and have also voiced my opinion to MSC. It would appear that they aren't at all concerned about the bottom line or customer satisfaction, shame on them! :( He's making history with his wonderful adventure and should be treated so much better. I too, will never, ever, ever sail with MSC.

And another shout out to you, Pat for keeping us all in the loop. I look forward to this every day! :D

I have been following this thread from day one and I have complete admiration for this man. What a great way to spend retirement!!

However, keep in mind, this is a trip he bought. He negotiated a price, well in advance of the cruise, and was happy with the price and the arrangement and accomodations he made for the year. If they start giving away alot of freebies to him, the next cruiser, or others onboard, could demand the same treatment in fairness, and on it goes......and goes......and goes......

Finally a post I can agree with! Egon is taking the cruise(s) he paid for. He is not the only nonagenarian that cruises with MSC nor is he the only passenger that has bought successive back-to-back cruises. The only complaint I've seen him repeat is that MSC didn't agree to buy an organ he has for sale. What that has to do with the quality of treatment I don't know. The more you write MSC complaining about Egon's cruise treatment, the more reason for them to restrict boarding for future Egons.

For those of you who haven't ever cruised MSC your credibility is lacking. There are probably many stories similiar to this on the other cruise line forums with complainers insisting they will never cruise that line. Let's let Egon enjoy his cruise without all the whining!

Egon offered the organ to MSC for free. He didnt ask for money. Hes bored. He wanted something to do and offered to give them an organ and play for free as a way of entertaning himself. Ive sailed on 9 diferent cruise lines including MSC. All give perks to cruisers. Usually perks are given for time sailed. Egon is going to be on ship for a year. Seems like extra perks could be given. I get numerous perks including free internet for sailing on 3 cruise lines . MSC could do the same. CARL

I can only say one thing to the naysayers: To each his own. Some of us are not as self-centered as to not stick up for someone who clearly deserves, in the least, to have Internet or Wi-Fi services while onboard. If you call that "whining", that is your perogative, but having corresponded with Egon since DAY ONE, I think he would appreciate someone in his corner, and I truly know he does. Let's get back to why this thread was started in the first place. To encourage him along on this journey of a lifetime for a person who has had a full and interesting life as a musician, which is truly his first love.

Just received this personal e-mail this a.m. from Egon:

"I am in Alicante and just saw the vascular surgeon here who prescribed a somewhat more complicated treatment which includes an elastic bandaging from the foot right up to under my knee. He says that if it's not healed in a month, to see him again. So once again I hope for the best. Otherwise all is copathetic."

Who wouldn't root for his life onboard being easier?

I totally agree. We are here to support Egon. My credibility is not lacking whatsoever!

Egon was issued an MSC Club Black Card at the beginning of his cruise. As a Black Card holder, he gets the following on-board perks (renewed for each cruise segment):

- One free dinner in the ship's specialty restaurant

- Free use of the thermal spa

- 30% discount on internet use

- €10 of free chips in the casino

- Bathrobe and slippers

- Fruit bowl in cabin

- 20% discount on shore excursions

- 20% discount on photographs

- Dinner with the captain and ship's officers

- 30% laundry discount (he gets free laundry)

- 15% discount for massages

- 20% discount for MSC logo purchases

- Champaign and chocolate strawberries in cabin

Many of these would not be of interest to him but I wonder why he doesn't use the spa, internet and massage perks?

Thanks for clarifying those perks, but irrelevant as far as I'm concerned regarding this particular person. Once again, I might ask to get back to why we are all here in the first place.

Just wondering if Egon has said anything to anyone about some of the places that he has been visiting. I know he's having the medical problems but had hoped that he would be able to partake in some of the culture of the various cities that he has been visiting. I remember from an earlier post that was a major reason why he took on this adventure in the first place.

Also I don't want to burden him with a superficial email, but would appreciate it if you would pass on to him, my best wishes for his adventure and hope he is enjoying it, inspite of all of the trial and tribulations.

Thank you.:)

I 100 percent support him. I was just saying that from the cruiseline perspective, extra perks are probably not likely to happen once you step foot onboard.

Since I know MSC will do nothing for him, and he has limited funds, I sent him a nice OBC that he can use for internet access on sea days or on days he cannot get to an online provider in town. The least I could do. He won't get it till the 16th of April so shhhh...........

Sounds like one of those stupid coupon books. Everything but what he needs. Anyone know how much more time he has on ship?

I believe his last week is 10/8 to 10/15 from New York and ending in Quebec. As you all have read, he had to leave the ship the beginning of this year in Cozumel to recuperate from the horrible scooter accident that he had in the elevator. His date of leaving in October and MSC's date did not jive after he got back on board.

The above statement was a general statement to all, not you personally. As for the "shhh", being former cruisemates, and recent correspondence from you, I have been chastized rather expletively before for things taken out of context and am not afraid to stand up for a friend when I feel it's the right thing to do. I have no intentions of changing that. I am who I am. Your contribution to Egon, I am sure, will be very much appreciated by him and is a very nice gesture.
