Laundry

How does the self-serve laundry work on Carnival? We have never had to use it before but since we are going to hot humid weather I'm figuring we might want to wash a few things in case we run out of clothes from changing.

Does it use coins? Or do they work with our cards and it gets added to our bill?

Thanks,

simmy

You may also want to check for laundry specials. They'll advertise it, and you would give your laundry to your room steward for a discounted price.

Thanks ... will plan on bringing quarters just in case we need to do it.

Good to know about giving laundry to the room steward ... for stuff that can be dried. We hang a lot of our clothes so there is no shrinkage, etc.

Yes, and you'd be surprised how much you can stuff into their bags. I know my steward told me ,people don't stuff them. They don't realize this option...Stuff that bag! I sent one bag and came back with two bags. All for the price of one...

This. I rolled my dirty clothes up and cram into that little bag. I can get a TON of clothes in there. On a seven-day cruise, I do it mid way and again at the end of the week. It's nice to come home with clean clothes. $15 is a steal for getting four days' worth of clothes washed, dried and folded.

I've done the self serve route and always spend at least $9 because you always have to run the dryer twice, if not split it into two dryers. And the time I spend running back and forth to the laundry room waiting for it to finish is worth the extra money in my opinion.

And don't pay extra for their soap and fabric softner.....go and buy the new Purex 3-1 sheets. You can carry several in a zip lock baggie and they don't take up any space in your luggage!!

These are wonderful for travel!!! They weigh almost nothing and won't spill or leak in your luggage!

Don't worry about bringing quarters, either, the purser's desk can make change.

Each machine now takes $3 per load? Or a total of $3 to wash & dry one load?

I've always done laundry on our cruises (hate to pack dirty clothes to go home) but cost never seemed unreasonable. I also use Purex 3-in-1 sheets and love them for travel.

$3 to wash

$3 to dry

$6 total

Casino can also give you change. Twice we've done laundry while cruising. Both times our cabin was on Lido, so we just had to go down the hall to the laundrette. I didn't mind doing it at all, since it helped to save on packing space.

When is the laundry special on the Pride? Seems to make sense to have the laundry service the day before we come home...how nice not to have to bring all that wash home! Is it $15.00 anytime on the Pride?

Vacation = Cruise = Vacation

If I asked my wife to go do laundry while on a ship, there might well be a

keelhauling.

It is called VACATION!

My husband would definitely agree with you. He never asks me to do it! However, he doesn't do the wash, so I am the one doing 47 loads of laundry when we return form vacation..it is never to much work to fold a load of wash and drink a beer on the balcony.

Why would you ask her to do it and not just do it yourself?

I get the not doing laundry on vacation thing, though. I'll pack very carefully to avoid it. Dh tend to overpack but still needs to go do a load or two of laundry for some reason.

  • 3 weeks later...

For those who have done laundry before, did you wait for your laundry to be done in the laundry room? Or do you just set a timer & collect your things when it goes off?

I live in an apartment building that does not have in-suite laundry but we do have a laundry room. There are so many people who, inconsiderately, do not pick up their laundry when it is done. Do you find that you are waiting for machines that are finished their cycle & are just waiting for the owners to pick up their things?
