CupKayke Posted August 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks for the info. I got on this board to look for NOLA park and cruise hotel info. I'm looking for a Hilton property (Hilton, Hampton, Embassy Suites, Doubletree, etc). I'm also looking for VERY SAFE ~ would NOT want my car stolen or vandalized. Any locals out there have suggestions??
Kajunswty Posted August 6, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted August 6, 2010 the closest & best Hilton property would be Embassy Suites, in my option. but the parking rates are crazy high & the same is true for the Hilton in the Riverwalk. if you are leaving your car at the hotel i would suggest choosing one with a garage but honestly NOLA is no worse than any other city when it comes to auto break ins..as long as you don't leave anything valuable (navigation system / dvd player ..etc) out & park in a well lit lot / or garage i don't think you'll have any problems. robtx100 Posted August 13, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Thanks so much for your list. I've been driving myself crazy looking and driving myself crazy trying to please everyone in our group (only 5 of us-2 rooms). I like Wyndham and do points through them. Two friends told me to look for Marriott because they get discounts there. The other two want to stay in the French Quarter. I just looked and the Chateau Bourbon (Wyndham Historic Hotel) offers one package for buy one room, get one half off. They also offer a park for $10/day bon voyage cruise package. I will call the hotel this weekend to see if the two can be combined and everyone will be happy....I hope.
Hockey19 Posted August 18, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2010 We will be a group staying in NOLA cruising on NCL this January. DW and I have vacationed and cruised from NOLA many times. We are for the first time a small group (6) and not sure of the best way to do it. We are experienced to the area and know the problems with location, cabs and parking. Getting six from the airport, then after a 2 day stay in NOLA to the ship can be crazy expensive. Trying to see what is a good hotel/location suggestion. stubljumpr Posted August 26, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2010 I spent approx 3 hours calling most of the hotels on the list provided by the NOCVB offering cruise/hotel/parking packages. The rates provided were the "starting from" price and nearly all were higher for the time period we r going (Dep. Nov 13).Parking was usually only free for 5 days and an ave rate of 25.86 after that. We decided to stay at the Maison St Charles post cruise--but because I booked on the Choice Hotels website ($84), we will have to pay for parking (17/nite).Even with that, it is still cheaper than the rate I was quoted by the hotel. Pre-cruise we r staying in Hammond for cheap at a nice place and will drive down the morning of the cruise and park in a garage that charges $8/nite and if u park for one week, u get one nite free. It has an entry gate requiring a code and is video monitored and provides a shuttle to/from the terminal. The website is www.airportparkinginc.com. Hope this helps. :)

The one hotel, starting from $79, was $129 or $139 a night etc. Everything was $129 or $139 that I called on the list. The Holiday Inn Superdome did not have the $99 free parking special available. I was thinking of recalling closer to the cruise, which is this Dec. We are booked at the Drury which says "snacks" above ... but they actually have a menu for each night ... more than just snacks Id say, perhaps their info was never updated as this changed around Feb of this year. We have hot wings and baked potatoes and lots of other things the night I will be there. Prices for the hotels were much higher than shown on that site, so beware. Can you tell Im in a headspin already?? hello Kimmie, We are going to Nola at the same time but we will be on the Spirit instead. We are staying 3 day pre-cruise also... great mind think alike :-) I have bid on priceline to a 4* hotel in downtown because I wanted to be close to the action but not so much in the action that it would be difficult to sleep. I got Renaissance Pere Marquette for 72$ by night (by Marriott). I was very happy of the price. They also have a great at hotwire. They have a 4* hotel for 69$ right now and the amenities seem to be the sheraton (after many reading on betterbidding). If so, it's seem that a great deal. When I booked 2 weeks ago, the price was at 89$. good luck!

BlondeKajun Posted May 26, 2011 #23 Share Posted May 26, 2011 We have stayed at Drury for a couple of cruises and it was comfortable. All of the hotels listed are "walking distance" to French Quarter if you don't mind walking. You would have to get a cab to the port however. Note: There are 3 hotels on your list that I would not recommend to family or friends. Courtyard & Suites, Holiday Inn Superdome and Lowes
