Bahamas - what to do with a toddler

We booked a 4-night cruise on the NCL Sky in December to the Bahamas (Freeport and Nassau). Would love to hear shore excursion or best activities/places/beaches to see with an almost 2 year old. We seem a bit limited on the excursions due to the toddler, however the dolphin encounter sounded fun (but pricey). There were also a couple of "beach day" excursions that sound ok but wonder if they are worth the price for 4 adults (us + grandparents) and a toddler, or if it is better to just take a cab to some beach. If anyone has been to Freeport and Nassau with toddlers, would love to hear your suggestions. Thank you!!

I liked blue lagoon. They have dolphins there, bit you don't have to do them. The water is calm, there is shade and there is a nice, but short ferry ride. It would a nice relaxing day for everyone.

We did the Sky to Nassau last Sept with our then 2.5 year old DS. We walked over to the British Colonial Hilton and bought day passes for the adults ( DS was free ). It was a great beach day! The beach was small but all we needed for wading and castle building. IIRC the day passes were $40.00 per adult but each included a $30.00 food and beverage voucher. We used ours at the beach bar for lunch, beer and pina colada's. It was a really nice day.

In Nassau, if you want something a little different, I can recommend 2 things. Adastra Gardens (you can find them on the web) is a cute little zoo and a nice way to spend a couple of hours - with still plenty of time for the beach. The other suggesting is to go to Blackbeard's Caye - they have the sting rays (debarbed and penned) so it is neat for the little ones to stand in the shallows and watch, even if they are too scared to do it themselves.

Freeport I can't help you with, sorry.

We just got off the NCL Jewel today with our 1 year old DD. In the Bahamas, we went to the British Colonial Hilton, which is within walking distance from the pier. We had use of their beach, pool and non-motorized water sports. They provided towels, chairs, and huts. It was practically empty and my daughter loved the ocean. The package was $55 per person (my daughter was free) and we got $30 per person in food/drink credit included with that. Afterwards we went shopping around Nassau (all within walking distance).

I think that they have a minimum age for the Dolphin encounters, even if parents are in there with the child. We did the Blue Lagoon, but my Grandson was 10. It's a beautiful beach and you could watch. I haven't been there but the Hilton Colonial sounds great for a toddler and Grandparents. I think the Aquarium at Atlantis might be a great option.
