Hi I have read on here about people being VIP or Platinum....

Just wondering how one becomes a Platinum?

And what are the advantages.

(I tried "search" on this subject but couldn't find anything) Thanks :)

See you got an answer ... here are the details from the Carnival site:

Note that the priority Tendering is only OFF of the ship. Not back on. They Lie a lot. I was refused priority tendering back onto the ship. When I inquired I was (very snottily) told that the priority was only when leaving the ship.

Last week on HMC we went up to the security guy flashed him our cards and he told us to wait with him and we were on first.

Apparently this is relatively new.

They wouldnt take my card, they wanted to see my priority sticker that the steward issued us, we were walked to the front of the line.

good thing i didnt throw it away after being tendered to shore, i couldn't find a trash can so i put the sticker on my camera case:)

Just shows....once again how everything always differs on Carnival.

We are platinum, so we go the the pursers desk to get our priority tender debark and they issue a sticker? What's a priority sticker? and what steward issued it? from the pursers desk?

On our cruise, the Cabin Steward left them in our cabin the night before our tender port, a piece of white sticker about 2 inches long that we were told to put on our shirt. In the morning we walked to the head of the tender line & they were checking for the stickers before boarding.

Not sure if all the ships used them, i'm sure some have other methods.

We have always gone to the guest service desk and let them know we are platinum and request priority boarding. They have always escorted us to the front of the line.

I have never encountered this. We did get VIP stickers from our steward to put on our luggage when we disembarked.......

Seems kinda cheesy to have to push and shove around everyone in line. We were always escorted and taken a different route to the front of the line.......I think I would have still went to guest service......

For tendering we just showed our Platinum card, they left us thru and on the tender. Wounder what they will do when they see a white card next time.

We also have come to the conclusion that each ship does its on tricks (its not the same on each ship) or handled the same when it comes to Platinum or Milestone cruisers,

Ummm...ya it was!

There was name calling going on because people were not understanding why people were passing them in the long line going down the stairs, they were thinking people were just trying to crowd in to get at the front of the line, i was actully stopped by a man and had to show him my sticker to get him to shut up...but really i don't blame him, i may have thought the same thing as he did.

Never thought to go to guest services for tendering.

We just walked downstairs holding our cards and they put us on the first tender.

Never had any problem in our 5 platinum cruises but this is the first time we tried to get priority tendering back to the ship. Had nice conversation with security guy while we waited for the next tender to empty.

This is what I do also. I just walk down the stairs opposite of where the line is and show my card to the security or other cruise personnel. I have never gone to Guest Services.

Well that sucks. I just checked with the CCL Past Guest Recognition Program site, which indicated "Priority tender boarding" and did not specify either OFF or ON the ship. Again, this is a localized interpretation of the policies. Where you returning from Georgetown Grand Cayman? If so, I would be pretty pissed to have to wait in that extremely long line (CCL knows how many passengers are on a ship, why don't they have enough tenders scheduled at 3pm??? How hard can this be????)

Nobody has to wait in line......find a place by the port and have a nice cool drink and watch the line go down........

I like the idea of the escort by guest services. The line going down the

stairs for tender was five deep and very hard to get thru. Even showing

our cards got us plenty of "ugly looks". Very unconfortable.

Oh well, we'll know next time.

I agree!!:)
