my good ol' georgia romeos arent cutting it anymore. Gotta get some nice winter boots. I havent bought boots in years and dont have a good idea what to go for. I will be buying online though, I know the size etc stuff so its cool. What boot is best for cold A** weather/snow? My friend suggest me to go with pairs of shoes like this UGG Australia Women's Classic Boot on blackfriday. What ya think about it? Nice choice or not? Any other good tips?

I would never go with Uggs for snowy weather. Warm, perhaps. But far from waterproof.

My heavy duty winter boots (from living in Utah) are Sorels. Dark green nubuck with heavy rubber soles. Fantastic for very cold and snowy weather. However, I now live in NC so rarely wear them. I have LLBean duck boots I've had forever (well, since 1987) that are nice for wet & possibly a little snow, but they're not hugely warm since they're just rubber & leather. But in NC - they're usually all I need.(the new versions do come with thinsulate insulation so they're warmer than my old boots) If you want a more stylish yet warm & waterproof boot, I love La Canadienne but sadly they're a little too narrow for my feet.

(Sorels also cheap cheap at Sierra Trading Post: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?searchdescriptions=true&ne=9400050&nr=OR(AND(Brands%3aSorel))&n=9400354&allwords=sorel)

I have North Face down filled boots similar to these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/North-Face-Nuptse-Bootie-III-Fur-Boots-Down-Fill-6-/290503830702?pt=US_Women_s_Shoes&hash=item43a360acae

and they are WARM and WONDEFUL :)

(It has been around -35 here this week, and my feet are staying warm in them with ONE pair of wool/silk blend socks)

I love 'em so much I bought an extra pair. And believe me, I paid a LOT more than the ebay price

UGGS are not good for snow. They will stain from snow and salt; some colors will bleed. I love my UGGS, but I live in an area that does not get much snow. Wellies are very "in" this year. They are rubber, so no worries in rain or snow.

But - wellies aren't warm. THey're just rubber. I would wear them in the spring or fall for rain, but not as winter boots if the temps are less than 30, I'd be too cold.....Guess it depends on where you live and how "winter" you need to dress for.....

I have two pair of UGG boots that I love. They are very comfortable and warm. It was 14 degrees out tonight and my toes stayed nice and warm. We get lots of snow. I very rarely walk through the snow in them. The roads, sidewalks etc. are usually cleared of snow. You can protect the suede before wearing them in the snow.

I have a pair of Keen leather boots purchased at REI that are warm (felt-lined), waterproof and very comfy when waiting for the bus on a COLD snowy morning. However, I was at the Bass outlet store this week and they have some sorrel-like boots on sale for 60% off that I would have tried if I didn't already have a pair of great boots.

Nice winter boots mean different things to different people. Initially, I thought dressy boots for winter, but when I saw Uggs, I knew that wasn't what was meant. Anyway, for non-dressy winter boots, I love my North Face Nuptse Fur boots. This is what mine look like except mine are all black:
