mstelly Posted January 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Just an update as I could not find any recent information on the current time that it took on renewing a passport. I put my renewal info and passport in USPS Priority mail on December 30, 2010 to the Passport address and requested "REGULAR SERVICE" for a Passport and Passport Card. Tracking the Priority Mail it was received by the Passport Office January 3, 2011 and in the Passport system for tracking on January 4. I receved an e-mail on Friday January 7 that my Passport had been processed and was being returned USPS Priority Mail back to me and I should receive it by January 12. -- Wow, is all I can say! linkerbink Posted January 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2011 I was just looking at the passport website yesterday and it said to count on 4 to 6 weeks, so I guess they try to err on the long side. However, it also said they expect a large influx of applications in anticipation of the July 13th fee increase which may bring the time frame closer to the 6 weeks. Good thing you got yours when you did!

Ashland Posted January 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2011 i thought the fee increase was last july (2010) You are correct it has been $110.00 since then and no increase scheduled at this time...

My bad! With typical government clarity (!), the website didn't specify the year, it just stated "July 13th". It doesn't really matter to me since mine doesn't expire for several more years, but I appreciate the correction.
