adventurous Duo Posted February 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2011 Have heard the Discovery Train is new on the island. Does anyone know how much it costs and what route it covers? Thanks!
mlbcruiser Posted February 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Try asking this question on tripadvisor & a local expert will probably reply. Just type in Grenada, then look for "forums" and post it there.

maryhill1 Posted February 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Hi We were on it on 2 weeks ago and it cost $15 pp- trip lasted about an hour. You can buy tickets inside the port mall ( stand in the centre as you are leaving\) or on the train itself. It goes from the port to through the town/up the hill to the fort/ round by the yacht harbour . It tour itself -is a bit basic but a good way to pass an hour. The ticket also gets you into the fort free of charge- you just catch the next train back down to the town centre. P.s Dont leave it to late as the last ones are jam packed with folk trying to get back the ship although it not to far to way back- its all down hill!! trish1c Posted March 6, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2011 How long is the full R/T from the pier assuming one doesn't get off? I'm trying to judge what time we need to be heading back to make a 1:30 early all aboard.

trish1c Posted March 21, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2011 When you come through the pier building, you buy your ticket from the first kiosk. The "train" stop is just to the left of the building as you exit. It's not well marked but when the little train is in the "station" it's very easy to see. It can be cramped if its full because they have seats facing each other. The guide is a bit hard to hear over the static & the engine noise. You go through town & up a HUGE hill to the fort. You can get off & walk around the fort. Warning: while interesting it does not take an hour to see the whole fort but that's how long you have to wait for the next train. You circle around the island some more & get some great shots of the ships in port. The next stop is a small museum. I didn't get off but again, I doubt it would take 1 hour to view. The 3rd stop is a "craft fair" with about 6-8 vendors. There is no way I'd want to be stuck there for an hour between trains. You can push a button to be let off whereever but I don't know if you can flag a train down mid-ride to get back on. Maybe as this grows in popularity the hop on hop off aspects will improve. For $15 it's still a cute economical way to see some of the island.
dakacz Posted August 21, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 21, 2011 Could you walk from the fort to the museum or is it a long distance or an uphill walk?
MSUcruisers Posted October 27, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 27, 2011 We will be in Grenada on Tuesday, February 21, on the Princess Emerald. The ship doesn't dock until noon and it will be probably later than that before we disembark. Is the Grenada Discovery Train feasible since the last run is at 3 p.m.? How is the walk back to the cruise ship from the last stop?
gaterbob Posted October 31, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2011 Don't wast your money or time ! If its raining they can't make it up the hill to the fort. Price has gone from $ 15 in Feb to $19 in Oct, yet no discount for not going to up the hill to the fort on Oct 24th. Musem can be done in 10 min. wait 50 minuets for next train.Next stop Arts and craft center { they garrenty your safety !} From there back to Start if its raining you do see the senic harbor on the way back to the ship. But afterwoods you realize that all you had to do was walk thru the tunnel and you can see the senic harbor
