If drinking is your thing then so be it enjoy the package if you believe it is value for money for you, as for spending $1000 on alcohol on a holiday as someone has mentioned! i can think of better things to spend that amount on ...:)

We are insiders and that could a one week cruise for us. We have been doing 5 cruises a year. So that $1000 goes better towards a cruise than drinking for us. PAFC Posted March 31, 2011 #128 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Can you confirm whether you payed 15% on top of these prices please, as there seems to be some confusion on this point. Thanks I can confirm having been on the ship 9 times and having only disembarked on the 3rd March from my last cruise, the 15% gratuity is included in the price. I know this as I had to pay for each drink as packages were not then available. If you want house wine in the Labyrinth or house spirits you just need to ask. So if I'm wrong then tell me, What is the legal limit is in the UK(I know I just want to see if you do). As far as spending $1000. Why do you care how other people spend their money? ISLANDCRUSO Posted March 31, 2011 #131 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Gilgo .... Here is the limit for where we live! .... The alcohol limit for driving in England and Wales is set at 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath or 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. And i did not say i care about how other people spend their money!!! What I said if you read it correctly is that i would not spend $1000 on alcohol and can think of better things to spend it on. If people want to Waste that amount on alcohol then that is their choice! (Sidari)
gnocchi_mommy Posted March 31, 2011 Author #132 Share Posted March 31, 2011 I can confirm having been on the ship 9 times and having only disembarked on the 3rd March from my last cruise, the 15% gratuity is included in the price. I know this as I had to pay for each drink as packages were not then available. If you want house wine in the Labyrinth or house spirits you just need to ask. I did ask, and was told there is no house wine, thats a misnomer- instead you get the open bottle-which often times cost much more per glass than the house wine listing. No skin off my back, since I was drinking on a package and didn't have to pay a difference. As to comments about $1000 for alcohol, we always budget $100 a day for drinks on a cruise- on an 11 night cruise that's $1100. While some may prefer to spend their money on other things, thats great. I can not see spending $50 for a couples steak dinner when there is "free" food available- I sure can not see spending $200 on a massage when I have a perfectly abled husband at hand... we all pick and choose which services we wish to spend our money on and we enjoy our drinks. With this package being only $68 a day for both of us it was a steal. When we won it and the rest of our expenses all back in casino, it was even more of a steal. :-D I know plenty of people who can't imagine wasting thousands of dollars to go on a cruise when they own a perfectly good tent they can vacation in for $20 a night all week in a state park. Different strokes for different folks!

As far as spending $1000. Why do you care how other people spend their money? Sidari may have been commenting on my earlier post when I stated our bar bill for 14 nights was aroind $950. We like a drink, bearing in mind the prices on our last FOS cruise was around $15 (A tenner) for 2 drinks it's not cheap. But we had a blast. mzk90 Posted April 5, 2011 #138 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Just to let you know, the drinks package on ID was suspended from today's sailing. I think they have had issues onboard and are reviewing the situation. It may be revamped and offered on sailings later this month. :(

mzk90 Posted April 5, 2011 #140 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Nae problem Nessie! I understand there were some unhappy guests onboard when they found out, but apparently it was a last minute decision based on certain situations from the cruise that finished today and the previous one. I guess they did say it was a trial! Seems to be still ok for Grandeur and Legend, so maybe it's just the Brits drinking the ship dry! I certainly hope it's not due to anti-social behaviour!:eek:

Kimmie36 Posted April 7, 2011 #146 Share Posted April 7, 2011 I am not a drinker, but my question is when you do these all you can drink packages do you have to pay a gratuity on each drink. I always wondered about this especially with the soda packages.
