Yes that was the case there is a No Smoking policy but all the people who said they would really enjoy the SMOKE FREE piano bar never showed up on the nights we walked by and I happen to know that this was the case on cruises after ours. No big deal to us except we use to like go in there late nights hang out sing along. drink, spend MONEY and now we don't. But we use to really enjoy our time in there along with many other people in The Piano Bar and we hope the people who like smoke free lounges go in there and take advantage of it. You wanted it and you got it.

I'm surprised Carnival changed it since it seems it was always packed & alot of peoples favorite place before.. Maybe they will change it back if no one goes now that it is non smoking?? Would be a shame for NO ONE to enjoy it!! I will definately check it out if it remains no smoking (would check it out if it was smoking, too, just might not be able to stay long), but an empty piano bar doesn't sound like much fun..

We're not certain that CCL changed the policy, but from what I've read it was the CD. Many people have expressed their discontent with John Heald regarding this and we'll see what happens. The way it use to be was that there was a smoking area in the rear of bar and the area around the piano was no smoking and for the most part that policy worked. We would love to see that go back into effect but I highly doubt it.

We sailed on Miracle in March and absolutely loved it. Great crew, great food, good ports and generally just a good time. I would sailed again on Miracle in a second.

Hope you enjoy your future cruises on whatever cruise line you choose!

No satisfying someone who thinks the food is horrendous.

We sailed the Miracle just a few weeks ago. What a disappointment for us as well, but not for the smoke, even though we're non-smokers.

This was just not the Carnival atmosphere we had years ago. I don't if it was the time of year or what, but the average age was at least 65-70. Nothing wrong with that, but perhaps that's why there was such a lack of activities.

This was pretty much our experience too. We did have more young people on our cruise (30s, 20s, & younger), because it was at a better time than yours to draw more families and young people. But even with a slightly younger (by average) crowd than you had, we definitely felt that the atmosphere wasn't the same as we've had on every other cruise. It felt dead by comparison. Activities were scheduled poorly, and there were far fewer activities. One response to this that I've gotten on these boards is that it's because of the cruise director, Malcolm. Still, some people enjoy a less active ship. Some people want it more quiet, with little to no activities going on. For those people, Miracle is a great choice. You & I are in the other boat. You'd probably love the Dream. It was my favorite cruise and ship by far. So much going on, so much to do, so many choices! I still enjoyed our Miracle cruise. We try not to dwell on the negative and just enjoy being on a cruise.

One thing that shocked us was that Miracle's beds are as hard as a rock. We're used to perfectly soft (but not too soft) beds on Carnival ships, but it was hard to sleep on Miracle's beds. And I can usually sleep on any kind of bed.

We loved our cruise on the Miracle in late March. There were a few times when activity directors didn't show up for scheduled events, but missing a trivia game doesn't impact our fun on vacation. We thought the food was great, the entertainment was good, and we enjoyed the decor of the ship. The piano bar was pretty empty, and even though I am a smoker, I didn't think of the reason being that it is non-smoking. We just didn't enjoy the atmosphere of the piano bar. We tried it several evenings, and there was no interaction with the crowd, no requests, no sing-a-long, no enthusiasm, just the piano player performing what he wanted to play. The majority of people, including us, stayed a few minutes and then left.

IMO, the lack of activities is because of the lackluster cruise director Malcolm Burn. He simply doesn't do his job, and has a horrible attitude, which filters down to his entire staff. I noticed that there are activities listed in the "Fun Times" which don't happen, or start late, or are in a different location than that listed, because of the "who gives a damn" attitude of Malcolm, and his staff. I've NEVER had this happen on any other Carnival ship, and I won't be sailing with Malcolm again!

.....I noticed that on the Carnival Freedom last year about activities not happening. Cruising with my 13 yo son, he loves to do these things. And it's not that we have a bad cruise because of it, it's just a minor disappointment.

We sailed on the Miracle beg Feb just before good old Malcolm was going on vacation. He kind of mailed in the week but his social hosts were good so we did have a bunch of activities that were held as scheduled.

We'll be sailing in 36 days and I CAN'T WAIT! We've been on the ship before (also the sister ship-the Legend) and thought it was just the perfect size. The food, I always thought, is better on Carnival than RC, NCL or Princess.

A bad day on a cruise is better than a good day at work! :)

Three of my four cruises so far have been on the Miracle.

No issues with anything...well until my last cruise 5/14.

The only complaint we had was anytime dining...the wait was 20-60 minutes.

Seems that more and more people are choosing this and they just do not have enough tables.

Other than that every cruise was great...as for CD...I do not depend on them to make my cruise so I really do not care who it is.

As for the food...no complaints at all

I am a smoker and I agree that the sports bar is always full of smoke...better ventilation would help...piano bar was dead...we hang out in the casino bar...that was fun.

So sorry you didn't have a good time. I loved the Miracle and would sail her again in a heartbeat.

On our cruise the food was excellent in the MDR, and we never ate at the buffet, except for breakfast.

My DH and I were also on the May 14th sailing (our 2nd time) and we had a fantastic time. For all the people that will be sailing on her, don't worry - you will have a great time! The food in the MDR might not be 100% to your liking ALL the time, but most of the time it was delicious. All the staff we had dealings with; from the room steward, the dining room and anywhere else were absolutely wonderfull. They work extremely hard for many long hours each day. They took really good care of us - all our needs were more than met!

My advice is to relax, your on vacation and don't be so picky!!

We've sailed on all the major cruise lines and loved every one for different reasons. We've been on the Miracle once and are sailing again this August. We loved the spacious rooms and the entertainment and activities. The crew was hard working and the food was great. Of course the food would be better on Celebrity. You're paying a lot more for that cruise also. I do agree with the smoking though. I wish Carnival would limit the smoking even more. Besides that, the Miracle is a fabulous ship and I can't wait for our cruise.
