msheep Posted August 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I've learned a lot from all the reviews from fellow CC members, even though my writing is really bad, but I still wanted to write a review with LOTS of pictures. I LOVE those picture reviews!!!! This trip consisted of 5 girls, all in the 20s, all first time cruisers. We planned this trip as our 10 years anniversary trip, and just plannned to spend time hanging out together. We had a great time, we don't really care whether the place is 100% spotless or if all the employees must smile at us at all time. As long as everyone is having fun, then it's a good vacation. Of course I wished the weather is warmer, the ship is less rocky and the food is better (will be mention later). But I didn't catch a cold due to the weather, didn't get terribly seasick, and was never hungry, therefore there is no complaint. Everything is still good, I was just a little greedy and wish it was better~ Nevertheless, we still had a wonderful time! =D DAY 1 Embarkation We planned to be at the terminal around 11AM, one of our friend V was still working that morning, she will board the ship herself later in the afternoon. The 3 other girls came to my place around 9:30AM and the cab was here. Traffic was not bad at all, we got there at 10:30. First glimpse of the whale tail When we found the porter and gave him the luggages, we went straight to security check line. And then straight to check in. We were given Zone 3 and was waiting in there at 11:00AM. They have lemonade and water for everyone. There is one wedding group and these people are the Zone 1 &
msheep Posted August 10, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted August 10, 2011 They said we will start boarding at 11:30, and they were right on time. They start boarding the wedding group at 11:30, and then Zone 3 was called around 11:40AM. First thing on board, LIDO for lunch :D Lido was not crowded yet, we walked all the way to the AFT area. Thanks to CC, I went right up to the Fish & Chips station. I had the Ahi Tuna and Ceviche. It was ok. I also had some buffet food, it was all as expected, nthg spectacular but everything was fine. msheep Posted August 10, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2011 One of my friend, Q, still has to finish something from work, I am typing her work on my phone and send it out to her co-worker using my phone. We finished eating at 12:30 and decided to walk around the ship, except for the lido area, every where else is almost empty. We went back to LIDO and found four lounger next to the LIDO pool and finish up Q's work. Our cabins were ready at 1:30 sharp, we went in and dropped off our purse and charged my phone a bit before going back up to LIDO. We found a table around the pool, and it finally felt like vacation after having my first DOD!! :D It's very fruity and I LOVE IT!!

msheep Posted August 10, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted August 10, 2011 It's around 2:30PM and finally last girl of our group joined us, she said there is no line getting on the ship and she didn't check in her carryon size suitcase. We went back to the room and drop her luggage off, to our surpirse, two girls received their luggage already! We went back up to LIDO for... guess what... MORE FOOD~~ Oh well, I didn't had much, but our friend didn't have lunch yet~~ Lines are getting long and I did saw some dirty tables, but I was not surprise at all, there were more than 3000+ pax and almost everyone is up there eating at the same time. And thanks to CC members again, even though it's crowded downstairs, but the tables near fish and chips station were almost empty. We read the FUN TIMES for the day and then went to the spa raffle at 3:45PM, of course we didn't win anything :p Then it was muster drill, it was about 20 mins and then we went up for sailaway! :D
msheep Posted August 10, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I think NY was around mid 80s that day, but it was still kind of breezy on Spa deck. The side where you could see Statue of Liberty was too crowded, we just stay on the NYC side and my friends were looking for their work building. (Oh, when we were in our rooms for first time, one of the room was set up as King Bed, so we called housekeeping and left a message asking them to change the bed setup. We did saw our room steward Lino afterward, he asked us what time we will have dinner. We had anytime dinning so just told him that we will probably dinner around 7 everyday. We also asked him to unlock and empty the mini fridge, he did unlock it later that night but it was never empty. No big deal since we only have two cans of soda and two bottles of water between us. We still have enough space with all the stuff in the mini fridge. We didn't have any other special request from the steward, the room is clean once in the morning and then will be turn down when we went to dinner. Always fresh towels and that's all we asked for!) msheep Posted August 10, 2011 Author #13 Share Posted August 10, 2011 DAY 1- continue... We stayed in some lounger on Spa Deck until around 5, and then my friends wanted to try the sushi bar. There was no line, but it was only so-so. We were going to wait until 7 for wine tasting, but decided that we were too hungry so we went to dinner around 6:45. There was no line for anytime dinning when we were there. We had a square table for 5 and were seated next to the window. I went out to get something right after we were seated and saw a line outside the dinning room already. We were lucky! The service was ok, they’were nice and friendly. I like YTD because I don’t have to build a “relationship” with the servers (but we were seated in the same section for three straight nights, and became quite friendly with the assistant head waiter Robin) Robin is a very friendly guy, he is very nice. We didn’t have a chance to talk to the head waiter or the other assistant though.
msheep Posted August 10, 2011 Author #14 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I heard that the flat iron steak is really bad, but nothing else from the menu appeal to me, so I tried the flat iron steak anyway. I figured if it’s really bad, I can still taste a little of all of friends’ dishes. I wanted to have the shrimp cocktail, but they don’t have it on the everyday menu anymore, I did asked but was told only items on the menu are available. Due to very low expectation of the flat iron steak, it was not that bad on the first night. Friends' appetizer and entree: Friend’s mahi mahi (sorry, no pic) was way too dry, everything else was good.
msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #15 Share Posted August 11, 2011 I have to try the WCMC, but was quite disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still very delicious and everyone at our table liked it. But I've too high of an expectation for it, I even like Applebee’s Double Chocolate Meltdown better. It’s still good and we enjoyed it nevertheless. My friend had the diet orange cake (sorry, no pic), all I can say is she was trying to eat healthy but regretted it :p We left the dinning room around 7:50, and there was still a line outside the dinning room. We then walked around and went into the Amber Palace Theater to see the "Be a game show star", we left and went back to our cabins. t Toss to our 10 years anniversary We went back up to the seaside theater until the Welcome Aboard Show. It is just a Welcome Aboard Talk, after that we went to the shops and casino for a while then call it a night, but it took 3 of us about an hour to get ready and didn't sleep until 1AM !!! msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #17 Share Posted August 11, 2011 DAY 2 – SEA DAY The first night was the only night that I noticed vibration and vibration sound. I thought it didn’t bother me, but compare to the other nights, it did bother my sleep a little bit. I woke up at 7:30 and can’t fall back asleep. =( We got ready and went up to Lido for buffet breakfast around 9:30AM. We passed the Platinum Dinning Room for Open Seating, there was a small line outside the dinning room. The buffet line was probably around 10-15 mins. I tasted the scramble egg at the buffet and decided to look for the omelets station. XD I found a station in the mid section, there were only two people in front of me, I ordered 2 eggs over easy and an omelet for my friend. The wait was still about 15-20 mins since it was made to order. After breakfast we went out and got some beach towel and lay there until 11:30. I wish it was warmer, it was too breezy, and we had to use the towel as a blanket. We then went to the scavenger hunt, it was fun! We got 19 out of 20, but there were two groups that also got 19 and were before us. We went back up to Lido and the grill just opened up. We were not really hungry but can’t resist the smells of nachos with cheese and chilies and fries.
msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #18 Share Posted August 11, 2011 The sun is finally oming out! We hurried back to the cabins and changed to swim suit, went back on Lido and there were 5 loungers available on the last row. That’s wonderful, it’s very close to the slide entrance! This is probably the only moment that we felt the sun throughout the whole cruise. We decided to go up to Serenity and try the Jacuzzi there. It was SOOO windy up there that the hammocks and all the loungers were almost empty. I grabbed a hammock and the girls went to enjoy the Jacuzzi. Back to the cabin and shower… then it’s Tea Time. More food = = We wanted to play volleyball or ping pong or golf, but it was either too windy or too crowded, so we just spent some time on the lounger, and guess what… I had more fries AGAIN = =

msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #21 Share Posted August 11, 2011 We went back to our cabins and got ready for elegant night. I didn't really observe what others were wearing, but we feel very comfortable with our cocktail dresses. There was no wait at 5:45PM and we were seated at the same table. I had the shrimp cocktail and Greek salad, it was nice. I tried the baked stuffed white mushroom from my friend, and it was nice too. Lobsters was nice, I had two lobster tails =D Bitter and Blanc as dessert, nice but too sweet for my taste. One of our friend, Q, was feeling seasick and didn’t eat much. \
msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #22 Share Posted August 11, 2011 We went back to our cabins and changed, we saw the family friendly comedy with Al Ernst. It was ok. Our friend, Q, was feeling better, so I went up to the Deli with her to get a turkey sandwich. She said it was only ok. And it was SO COLD up there. Look at her. We then went back and join the other girls to see Just Rock. The show was very NICE. We went to close up magic at the Burgundy Bar, amazing close up magic! Last but not least, grill was opened at 11PM and… I had more fries… =( And the worst part is, we called it a night right after all the food that I just consumed!!! I think I already gained like 2-3 lbs at that point!! 2nd towel animal, another elephant~
msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #23 Share Posted August 11, 2011 DAY 3- SAINT JOHN There was no vibration at all last night, and I had a good night sleep. However, our friend, A, next door decided to knocked on our door at 8:30 =O We then got ready and went up for breakfast. There is no line at the omelets station near the main pool, only about 5 minutes wait on the buffet line too! I had my usual 2 eggs over easy with some sausage and fruit. We left the ship around 11. Our mission in Saint John was to walk around and look for WIFI. We headed to Java Moose, bought a cup of Latte, but…. Their WIFI was not working. msheep Posted August 11, 2011 Author #24 Share Posted August 11, 2011 We finally found some WIFI in Market Square. Free Wifi at Ale House Weather was very nice, nice and cool But suddenly became so foggy in the afternoon We finally decided it’s enough walking for the day and went back to the ship at 3:45PM. Dropped everything in our cabin and time for late lunch at the grill.
