Boston Cruise Terminal to Boston Logan Airport

It's probably not more than 5 miles of distance, so a cab should not be to expensive. I don't know exactly where the Jewel is docked. But if they dock at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, you could also take the Silver Line 2 at Black Falcon Ave with direction South Station. At the Silver Line Way Station before Manulife Building you change into the SL 1 and this one takes you directly to the airport.

I am sitting in the airport now and am looking at the pier.I can't imagine a cab could be too much. Just has to basically go through the Ted Williams Tunnel.:)

It would still be around $25. The Silver Line might save around $20. But you would have to get off a SL2 bus at South Station and then get on an SL1 bus. NOT WORTH IT or the wait, especially if you have luggage. Those Silver Line buses also have a few stops and aren't the most comfortable ride. Taxi is a better call.

How is the best way to get from our RCC - Jewel Of The Seas on a Saturday morning (10-1-2011) to Boston's Logan Airport?

There will be 4 of us wondering the same thing.....:D. Sounds like a cab is the way to go.....we did the Sky Train from the Amtrak station to our hotel in Vancouver....never again! We shlepped our luggge through downtown Vancouver, stuffed it and us into a Sky Train car (squashing everyone around us), and then, at the end of the line, wandered around with our luggage looking for our hotel.....all to save about $25! :D :D It was an adventure that we laugh about now....it was not as funny then. We will be some of the ones hailing a cab to Logan!

And, BTW, I don't see you on our roll call...http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1270715 C'mon and join us!

When we did it (2009) the line for taxis was SO LONG that we ended up in a shared van to the airport. I think they charged $15 per person which was more than a cab would have been, but it saved us a lot of time. I think if you have a larger group (4 or more people) you can negotiate the price per person to a more reasonable amount.

  • 1 month later...

I knew it was black something....close counts :) You must drive a taxi since you say "the taxi meter is saying....." $8.00 surcharge???? what the heck is that BS? Thanks alot for the info....I very seldom use a taxi, so to me to go a couple of miles for $28 seems outrageous ( I was told you can see the airport from the pier)

There's a web site that shows a taxi meter to calculate fares. You're right - you can see the airport from the ship - it's across the harbor. I like the Silver Line. $2/pp is a lot cheaper than $28. Now that I'm a senior, the "T" is $.65, which is a REAL bargain.

I like this figure even better (below).......thank you very much for that idea to look up the cost on line.

What's the deal with this $2.00 ride?? I like that # even better :D Is that a public bus or something that goes from the airport to the pier? I assume it probably makes plenty of stops, which I don't have time to do.

Estimated Fare & Tip: $17.68*

Estimated using Boston taxi rates. The trip is 3.8 mi and will take 9 mins. This fare estimate includes a 15% tip.

You're going Logan to Black Falcon so the surcharge is $8.00, so with tip that's in line with the original quote I gave you.

The Silver Line bus is a new articulated bus that was designed to service Logan Airport. It circles the airport stopping on the lower level near the baggage claim at terminals A, B, C, and E and then goes to Silver Line Way, World Trade, Courthouse and South Station. At World Trade you would get off and go over the tracks (escalator and elevator) and take the SL2 to Black Falcon. It's also possible to switch at Silver Line Way, but there might be an extra fare to do that. I'd estimate 30 minutes to do this depending on connections - it will depend on which terminal you get on at. What airline are you flying.

Excellent....thanks again. I'd say between several pieces of luggage and the wife having walking difficultly, I think we're destined to go with a cab.

we fly in on Delta

I wonder why that "quote" doesn't add that $8.00 ?? I surely can't doubt ya on that fee. I wonder if I could get my luggage off property and save $8.00....you happen to know if we get tagged with that when come back to the airport? or only when ya come off the property?

It depends on what calculator you use. You could do better or worse. If you price Black Falcon to Logan, you get one price and Logan to Black Falcon another price - the difference is the cost of the tunnel. You definitely want to go through the Ted Williams tunnel - confirm that with the cab driver.

If your wife has mobility issues, then you definitely want to take a cab or transfer at Silver Line Way and pay the extra money. The buses have low steps and the Logan bus has luggage racks. Delta is in Terminal A.

Too weird the rate varies by which direction you want to go (to or from Logan)....I heard Ted Williams is the way to go....I made a note of that

Thanks again for the great info.....we'll hope for the best

Do you know if ya have to pay that $8.00 on the way back in ?? I need to know if I need to leave the casino early one night :D

The Ted Williams Tunnel (aka The Ted) is part of the Big Dig project. Tolls are collected when you leave the airport. Thus the fare from Logan thru the Ted to anywhere in Boston will have the toll surcharge.

Other charges? Who knows. We figure it is a "tourist tax" and just pay it.

Have fun in Boston and on your cruise.

Thank you "locals" for your help....so it sounds like the $8.00 is outbound, but not inbound to Logan....even is ya go through the Ted?

Boy you could have a nice little entrepreneurship by having a "full size" van. *if* you somehow could promote it (off the record on here...;) )

charge half as much as the taxi's to the CC people, and everybody would be happy ! I realize there's not alot of ships homeported out of there, and it's only a couple of months, but you could make hay while the sun shines :p

Thanks again for the info everybody....I'd like to think traffic wouldn't be crazy on a Saturday
