pd52 Posted September 12, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Since all menus are the same fleetwide, it's hard to believe that no one has a link or can give me a clue as to what they may be......it seems to be generating interest to see, just that no one has info. Surely someone has gone on a 12 day and has the info stored somewhere...... Counted on you all before....not giving up yet. thanks
Rare FionaMG Posted September 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Hi pd52 I can't help you with an actual menu but I do remember having a fabulous dessert on each of our two longer cruises (one 12-day eastern Europe and one TA) which I don't remember having on our 7-day ones. It was called baklava. It's Turkish or Greek in origin and it's made with layers of filo pastry, nuts and honey or syrup. They served it with pistachio ice cream and I can honestly say it was one of the best desserts I've ever had (on board or on land). If you have a sweet tooth and it's on the menu on your sailing, give it a try. Hope you have a great time. Cheers Fiona.

BillB48 Posted September 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2011 Are we talking back 2 back cruises, or a straight 12 day cruise? If it is a B2B as in a 7 day followed by a 5 day, my experience has been that it will be some sort of a repeat menus of the first leg. The longest single cruise I have been on is 15 days, the menus did not repeat, but certain items did repeat. That's been a couple of years ago and I do not have any of the menus saved. Reddbaron Posted September 15, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 15, 2011 During a recent galley tour of the Jewel this question came up and we found out that on longer cruises the chefs supplement the standard menu with themed day menus that have been approved and standardized by RCI's main office. So during our 12 night Scandinavian and Russia cruise leaving from Harwich, England we had an English Dinner, Russian Dinner and Scandinavian Dinner. These menus were not publicly labelled or posted as anything different, but once armed with this knowledge, it then became apparent that there was a definite theme to the evening's fare. The chef said that they have such supplemental menus for different areas all over the world and the advantage is not only to serve cuisine inspired by the location of the ship, but to take advantage of foods (especially fruits and vegetables) that are more readily available in those areas. Thank you Thank you! Those of us on this thread have been searching for a cogent response to our queries regarding this and finally we have the answer:) i had heard or read about "theme nights" but now I understand what that term signifies. Curious that the menus are not labelled with the country or theme they represent. Guess it will be pretty obvious that bangers&mash are served on English grub night, lutevisk for Scandinavia and blinis for mother Russia:p

unberwoob Posted September 15, 2011 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2011 We have been on many 12 day cruises and none of the menus have been the same. On our Baltic cruise we did not have the British, Russian, and Scandinavian meals as posted by Reddbaron. We have had many of the dishes posted by KarinaGW, but not in the order shown. BND Posted September 15, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2011 The menu above is pretty much what I remember having in Nov on our 12 day Explorer cruise. I think there were a couple of differences, but honestly I don't remember. We enjoyed most nights, but there's always one or two that we order pasta or chicken off the alternative menu because we just don't find anything we really want. pd52 Posted September 16, 2011 Author #16 Share Posted September 16, 2011 Thanks for your help. this gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect. although we're going on the 12 day in the caribbean, i believe that they will be quite similar. i don't think that they go that much out of their way to change them much from area to area. again, thanks for taking the time to answer.
