Pam in CA Posted September 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2011 Is wifi avilable in cabin? I am going on the Island Princess in October and was wondering if we bring our laptop, how much is the package?WiFi is available throughout all Princess ships, including cabins. The package is the same whether you use your own computer or the ship's in the Internet Cafe. That's 500 minutes for $175, 250 minutes for $100, 150 minutes for $75 and 100 minutes for $55. Almost every port has a cyber cafe. The rates are a fraction of what you pay onboard.

Loonbeam Posted September 25, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2011 There may be some (Starbucks most notably) but don't assume free wi-fi.. Are there McDonald's and Starbucks in the Eastern Carribean ports? Thanks!

Mycruises62 Posted September 25, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 25, 2011 We will be going on the Golden in Nov to Hawaii, we are platinum. Do we get free minutes? We can buy a package on top of what we are giving for free, right? Mike
Pam in CA Posted September 25, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2011 This package is free for suite and elite members? The package is free for Elite members, unlimited for full (not mini-) suite passengers. You'll be given a larger package on longer cruises. I've found that it works out to an average of 15-20 minutes per day. It's also best to use an email program that allows you to download new mail, read it offline, respond offline and then reconnect and send. I use probably 3-5 minutes of total connection time with AOL. Going to CC while onboard is very slow and uses a lot of minutes. :(

Rare TracieABD Posted September 25, 2011 #13 Share Posted September 25, 2011 As Platinum, you get free minutes. However, you will not get the "signing bonus" that folk who pay for the internet get. For those who are planning on paying for the internet, if you sign up on the first day, there is normally some type of incentive in the form of "free" minutes.:)
caribill Posted September 26, 2011 #14 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Is wifi avilable in cabin? I am going on the Island Princess in October and was wondering if we bring our laptop, how much is the package? All Princess ships have WIFI. In most cabins, the reception is good. Speed is basically that of dial-up and the internet may not be available at all times due to the ship's position Using WIFI is the same cost as using the ship's computers in their Internet Cafe. First there is a $3.95 initial sign up charge (once per cruise per user; free for platinum/elite passengers). Then 75 cents/minute unless you purchase a package. No refund for package minutes not used. Packages: 100 minutes $55.00 150 minutes $75.00 250 minutes $100.00 500 minutes $175.00 If you sign up for a package the first day, there is usually some free bonus minutes. You can also pre-pay for a package at http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/gifts_services/communications/index.jsp and this will include more bonus minutes than you would get onboard. If you pre-pay, it will also include the 3.95 initial sign-on fee. The package minutes can be used both on your own computer and on the ship's computers in the Internet Cafe. The first time you use the Internet onboard, there will be instructions on how to set up your account and select a password. Please note that on your own computer you must sign out with an address of 1.1.1.1 or your minutes may continue to be counted down. Alternatively, you can use an address of logout.com on some ships. If you sign up on board for a package, you do so either on your own laptop or one of the ship's computers in the Internet Cafe. Either way, you can do it without the need to interact with the Internet Cafe manager.
H20 Lover Posted October 7, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Thank you very much! We decided the temptation might be too much so we are going to use our free minutes in the cafe. I appreciate all the info though, that's great to know!
