Question about wait list for early seating

So, we just booked our Infinity cruise for August 10th directly with Celebrity. We prefer the fixed dining and were wait listed for the early seating, but the agent assured us that we would eventually be moved to early seating. She said they "play with the dining" and hold back some slots.

If we get stuck with late seating, it could be a really deal breaker, as we have 3 kids and neither we nor our fellow passengers would want them finishing dinner at 10 p.m. it would just. be bad all around!

What do you think is the likelihood we will get stuck with late seating? Does the MDR real estate reallocated to Blu affect our chances, since fewer can be seated in MDR now?

I have had the same thing happen. As it gets closer to the cruise, you may find that early seating opens up. Just keeping checking online every day. As an alternative, if they offer Select Dining, you can switch to that so worse case scenario, you won't be stuck eating late. Just show up when the dining room opens and there you go.

Keep checking your reservations on the celebrity web site. August is a long time out, you never know what could happen. If it has not changed, right when you board go to the Matre' de (sp) usually setting right outside the MDR and see what he/she can do for you. We had late seating on the Summit in September (not a good idea for me!) went to check it out and what do you know she said we were down for early seating:cool:. We were all ready to change to anytime dining!

Enjoy the "New" Infinity and take good care of her. We will board on September 21 to go through the Panama Canal. Also welcome to Cruise Critic and enjoy Alaska, its BEAUTIFUL!!!

You might try calling/checking on Thursday. When we booked our next cruise we wanted select dining, but even the wait list was full. When I called Captain's Club, he told me to keep calling back on Thursdays to check if it was available. Evidently that's when "holds" placed over the weekend run out.

When you board the ship, go to the Maitre'd and get on a waitlist for early seating. Some cruiselines have a specified location/time for you to do this during the hours while passengers are boarding the ship.

LOTS of people change their seating after the first night of dining.

They don't like their table.

They don't like their tablemates.

They don't like their dining room.

They don't like their dining time.

You may find an opening available right away.

If not, you will more than likely be accommodated within 24 hours.

The cruiseline knows that these details are important to their passengers.

They will do all they can to accommodate your requests.

One time, we were waitlisted months prior to sailing.

Upon boarding the ship, we found out that the late seating was NOT full, but rather the early seating was full. This was the exact opposite of what was being told to us prior to sailing.

Be encouraged!

On the M class Celebrity ships there is a station set up on Embarkation day in the lounge area right outside the dining room doors on deck 4, lower level of the dining room, on the port side which is the right side when you are facing the dining room and left side of the ship if you are facing towards the front of the ship.

If I needed a change I'd head there immediately on boarding the ship.
