Hobbsey Posted May 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Wow, I got some of these brochures from a local TA yesterday. What a great sales and informational piece. I have never seen such detail given to a single ship and itinerary before. We are going to book in a week or so I'm sure. There is one piece of missing information and if anyone here has contact with NCL you might mention it...They need to indicate which of ther restaurants are open and which require a surcharge. Also, does anyone know if there is a fee to use the basic spa services like the indoor pool, steams rooms, etc... On my HAL cruise last weekI was shocked to discover that they are now charging for aerobics, yoga and other fitness classes. Are these still open on NCL? 1968 Lurline (Matson) 1969 Mariposa (Matson) 1998 Seabreeze (Premier) 1998 Century (Celebrity) 1999 Seabreeze (Premier) 1999 Norwegian Crown (NCL) 1999 Voyager of the Seas (RCL) 2000 Westerdam (HAL) 2000 Carnival Victory (CCL) 2000 Sensation (CCL) 2001 Mercury (Celebrity) 2001 Norwegian Majesty (NCL) 2001 Vision of the Seas (RCL) 2002 Norwegian Wind (NCL) 2004 Maasdam (HAL)
cliffd64 Posted May 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2004 The restaurants that are fee free include Blue Lagoon, The Red Lion Pub, Versailles, Aqua, and Soho, the Garden Cafe buffet, and any barbeques on the pool deck. As for specialty restaurants, these are your places, but some charge and some don't, but ALL require reservations for the most part: La Trattoria - Italian... not sure if they charge these days. Le Bistro charges $12.50 Cagney's charges $20.00 The Teppanyaki/Bamboo oriental restaurant is also fee based. They have a $10.00 fee for all you can eat program, and a la carte items as well. Ginza is also fee based. The Endless Summer Restaurant is a specialty restaurant, but i think that one might be free also (reservations still required). If not, it is $10 - 12.50 range. There ya go! Enjoy We might be booking one also for 2005 on the Mex riviera! zimmerjulie Posted May 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2004 We sail the Star this June to Alaska. From what I have been reading, the spa pool and the surrounding relaxation area is for your use free of charge. As for charges for fitness classes, there was one specialty class that had a charge on our Sun cruise last year. It was "spinning" and the charge was $5 for a 45 minute session. You could also sign up for KICK START group training, which is a 5 session group personal training program for $25. Kickbox aerobics, Back to abs! Total torso conditioning, TBC! Total Body muscle Conditioning, stretch & relax, awesome abs, interval step, KickBox-step, hi-lo aerobics, and boot camp were the free offerings, along with "Walk a Mile" throughout the week. SweetEmi Posted May 7, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 7, 2004 The spa pool, whirlpool, sauna, etc are all free - and they were wonderful to use. You can even bring a book and lay back in one of the wonderful lounge chairs there and look out the front of the ship...wonderful!! And much less crowded than the other pools, etc. Swap your key card for a locker... Aloha, Emi NCL Star-08/31/03 in Hawaii! NCL Star-11/13/04 to Mexico! Alaska summer 2005! Hobbsey Posted May 7, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Aloha Emi, I was hoping that was the case. It seems a good place to escape if the kids take over the main pool. Thanks. 1968 Lurline (Matson) 1969 Mariposa (Matson) 1998 Seabreeze (Premier) 1998 Century (Celebrity) 1999 Seabreeze (Premier) 1999 Norwegian Crown (NCL) 1999 Voyager of the Seas (RCL) 2000 Westerdam (HAL) 2000 Carnival Victory (CCL) 2000 Sensation (CCL) 2001 Mercury (Celebrity) 2001 Norwegian Majesty (NCL) 2001 Vision of the Seas (RCL) 2002 Norwegian Wind (NCL) 2004 Maasdam (HAL)
