CruiserBruce Posted February 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I would recommend Holland America.
Rare Hlitner Posted February 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I would recommend not taking any 7 day mass-market cruise line cruise out of Florida in March. This is during the spring break season and you are going to find quite a few younger folks who are on the cruise to party...not be quiet. To get an older more sedate crowd..timing is everything. You want to avoid major school holidays and spring break time. Hank
janabm81 Posted February 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I'd say your best bet would be Holland America, Celebrity, or Princess. They'll likely have a lot less kids and spring breakers and they all have more of an upper scale feel to them.
Friend100 Posted February 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2012 Holland America Noordam, Mar 26, 2012, 9-days from Fort Lauderdale round trip to St Maarten, Castries, Soufriere, Roseau, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay. GTY for balcony is $1015pp; GTY for suite (cat SC) is $2005pp.
paul929207 Posted February 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2012 You may have trouble finding what you want. For 200 square feet, you are looking at a mini-suite or full suite. Most are over 2k per person
Jimnbigd Posted February 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2012 You might want to check on ships leaving from Miami too, since Miami is very close to Ft. Lauderdale. And, you might find many of the ships are already full. I usually book a year or more out to get my cabin choice. You might find the only cabins left are not as desirable -- like ones directly under noisy public areas. You won't find a 200 square foot balcony cabin unless you book a suite -- or are you including the balcony in your square footage? It sounds like Holland America would be a good choice, something like the March 11 Westerdam. You might find a suite available and within your budget on this one. You say you are both 50. If you really mean "in your 50's" and at least one of you is 55 or older, there is a good deal on the 9-day Navigator of the Seas March 16 with an age 55 or over rate. It is a larger ship, but the Voyager class ships do have a certain WOW factor I think.
