On a related note.....I booked and paid for a deposit on the Veendam last month. Yesterday I paid the balance, and while the fare held, the port charges increased slightly. That has not happened to me before.

I only hope that they don't decide to institute the fuel surcharge before I sail....

It is not unusual for port charges to increase/decrease right up to your sailing. We have boarded and found a note in our cabin regarding adjustments in port charges--sometimes increasing them, sometimes decreasing them.
