Transportation Help needed - SFO & YVR

We are a family of 4 going on the Dawn Princess Coastal cruise from San Franscisco to Vancouver.

 

What is the bestway to get from:

 

SFO airport to the Port of San Francisco

Vancouver Port to Vancouver Airport(YVR)

 

Also if taxi is preferable, how much does it cost for each of the above trips?

I can help you with the SFO to the pier. Taxi's are quite high. It is quite a distance from the airport to the pier. Try www.supershuttle.com

Another alternative is to take BART to the Embarcardero station (current fare is $4.95 per person) and then take a taxi to the port (just flag one down...should be about $10, including tip). Of course, if you have a lot of luggage, or small children, this may be more of a hassle than it's worth. (check www.BART.gov, for more information).

I think the easiest choice in Vancouver is to take a taxi, but I am not sure if it's the least expensive. I think it was around $20-25 (Canadian), but that was 2 years ago so I am not sure what the price is now. I'd get on the Vancouver airport web site (www.yvr.ca) and see what other types of transportation is currently available. They had some plans in the works when we were there in 2003, but I am not sure if anything has transpired yet or not. The Vancouver airport is in Richmond so it is a ways from the piers in downtown Vancouver. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Canada Place (the pier) to airport by cab is $25.00 (Cdn). Most cabs will except American money, most will accept CC too. (check before you get in).
