Alaska Pearl Cruisers

Has anyone recently returned from the Pearl to Alaska? I'm getting excited for my cruise in a suite in August and wondering if there's anything that is a must on land or sea days?

Also if anyone has done excursions independant of the ship and has any advice?

Must do depends on which ports you will be in and whether or not you will be in Glacier Bay or Sawyer Glacier.

For great reviews about Alaska I would suggest reading member reviews about the Pearl and Alaska. We went in 2009 and 2010 on the Pearl and had a great time.

We did the Pearl twice, May 2010 and we also went in August in 2007

here is our review from 2010:

I am sure their are some changes (like Sharkbait which is no longer on the Pearl)

Here was my impression of the cruise. I cannot guarantee that you will have the spectacular weather we did. Bon voyage!

Thanks for the great review. I felt as if I went with you and your mom. I am counting down :)

kej1176 - I found some great information for independent excursions where you may have looked already on the excursion boards. I have enjoyed everyone recommended by other cc on the cruises the DH and I went on. We book with the ship when we are doing something alone.

Thanks for the great review and pictures. It was great to read your thoughts after the second Pearl Alaska trip.

make sure you check out the alaska boards, great information on independent excursions. there are many great vendors with a long alaska history.

Thank you I have done this and booked two excursions already and know pretty much what we are doing in each port.

For a quick and fun tour in Ketchikan, and if you like a little corny humor along the way, do a Duck tour. If you want a quick Alaskan King Crab fix, try Tracys Crab Shack in Juneau. You can search Tracys and see the walk up menu. If you like flower gardens, tour Butchart Gardens in Victoria.
