The regulation in LV says

The state of Nevada requires that every machine pay out a minimum of 75 percent of the money it takes in

There is no rule in Vegas that says that any given machine has to pay back any higher than that except if a specific bank of machines in a casino advertises such.

Based upon what I have seen in cruise ship casinos I can't imagine that they pay less than 75%, and I have also read that CLIA which most cruise lines follow, follows the vegas regulations, so yeah maybe more machines pay closer to 75% (maybe all) than in a vegas casino, but people still get lucky and win. I know for a fact that the video poker paybacks on the ship stink. The best video poker payback is on a machine where a full house pays 9-1, most on ships now pay only 6-1 most casinos in vegas are 7,8 or 9 to 1

I like playing the penny slots, but I also like playing Keno. I play 25 cents per game and pick 6 numbers. On one cruise, I won $400 twice on the same machine the same day. :D If you're not sure how to play the Keno machines, just ask the casino host/hostess. You can even try asking the person playing a machine how it works.

We love to play the slots, DH plays more than I do. I stick to Penny slots, and he does the penny & quarter slots. DH has hit a jackpot on almost every cruise we have been on. Please note: He always puts all or most of it back, but that is the entertainment he enjoys (gambling).

We dont know much about casinos, but want to learn. Whats the best way to play to have a chance to win? Craps seems like a lot of fun. We have a $65.00 a day budget. Whats our best bet? Slots or table games? Does anybody ever win?

Thanks

Craps has pretty good odds as long as you don't bet the long shots. Black Jack can be a money maker as well. Video poker pays off for me. Best thing to do is talk to the casino staff and find out when they give lessons, then you can learn without spending a fortune.

The best way to double your money is to fold it over.

There are many games that you can have fun at. I worked a a dealer, the best card game was 3 card poker, but it all goes in streaks and luck.

AS others suggested try playing the games on line or with a computer game, there are plenty that teach you how to play and teach the best strategy. Problem with card games is you will need a large bank roll to get thru the losing streaks and then you may still end up losing most of it. No guarantees.

Best to just play the no brain slot machines. Put your money in, press the button and hope you win.

you may want to do alittle research 3 card poker is not a good game for the player :)

OK... I don't need education on any of the casino "opportunities", but have a question regarding what is offered....

We are in the Miracle in January.

Do they offer live NL holdem?

I expect the rake is obscene, but I keep hearing about video poker. VP is just as bad as slots in my opinion. I was on NCL in March and they had one table for 1/2 NL with a real dealer.

Can anyone confirm?

I have not personally been on the Miracle, but I have to assume they have the computerized hold em tables, as every other boat I've been on has had them. These are not the "video poker" games you're thinking of based on the way you phrased your question. These are just like live hold em, with playes sitting in a full circle around the table and all players are playing against one another, not the hourse; however the dealer is computerized. If you're a live hold em player, you'll enjoy these. It's not as "live" dealer feel, but it will fit your bill.

After 6 cruises with a LOT of time spent in the casino, I discovered the only way you get points on the ship is to play slots . I love my blackjack, but it would be nice to qualify for the casino rate too! This time, I'm going to make sure I spend a little time watching the reels spin too.

Any Baccarat on the ship? That usually has the lowest house advantage.

Indeed, black jack requires skill, and $65 will likely get you no where. With roulette, play black and red with $65. Frankly, stay out of the casino and do something else with your money.

I recall being at Borgata in AC several years ago, and a guy was pumping $100 bills into all the different $100 slot machines in the area. They finally roped it off so he could play without disruption. He eventually hit for $10,000, but did he make money? I dunno! ;) He was going from machine to machine and putting in $100 bills at the rate of, I figure, 15-20 per minute!

I've received the "drinks on us" card and only play craps, so they do in fact rate tables. It's just much more difficult on the tables. I do agree that they do not rate table players nearly as well as they should.

I agree. I spend more at the table games than my wife does at the slots. Yet she get all of the casino offers.
