grizzy Posted May 27, 2005 Author #26 Share Posted May 27, 2005 TOMMYCRUISER, A holloween cruise...that sounds pretty cool. If we come across thousands of dollars then we're in. redwings1958, You're gonna love it! I wish I was leaving in 9 days. If you're a big drinker and there is a good crowd onboard you'll like the Crown & Kettle. I just love the Promanade overall. Have fun.
Sam of the Seas Posted May 27, 2005 #27 Share Posted May 27, 2005 I started to read this review without recognizing your name...but when I was reading the first few sentences I was like ahaaaa. Your review from last year was my favorite! It was nice to hear about your gang and their adventures once again. I appreciate the humor along with the details of your cruise and excursion experiences. I don't think you could have a bad time with your group of friends. Sounds like a good time. The "lines" of the week were hysterical to me because the first one sounds like it came out of my cousin's mouth and the second...well, it was just laugh out loud funny! Thanks for taking the time to write this review. It entertained me enormously. Sam
grizzy Posted May 27, 2005 Author #28 Share Posted May 27, 2005 Sam of the Seas, Thanks so much. I really enjoy writing the review as it's a way to relive the fun throughout the year. It also peaks our group's intrest when our next sailing nears. Our group is relentless and everything you say is critiqued & spun so you always have to be on your toes. The best thing is that no one is immune. One thing I left out of the review is that when we were onboard workers (especially the bartenders/shot guys) would come up and say that they remembered us from last year. It's nice to know we leave an impression...save the one Jeff left with the Port worker :D ! Chris
TTCruiser Posted May 31, 2005 #29 Share Posted May 31, 2005 I swear the comment to the port worker sounded great in my head, but went horribly wrong once it was said aloud. Open mouth, insert foot...LOL. Anyway, who wouldn't want to cruise with our group...look at the things you can laugh about all week!

GCBCKat57 Posted June 5, 2005 #32 Share Posted June 5, 2005 Grizzy, Thanks for the great reveiw...I love how you've incorporated your pics and the snorkeling at Belize looked wonderful. Got to get through this hot summer before we board but you've got my anticipation in high gear. Agree about the hard work that goes into making us feel pampered in the dining room...tips are well earned. Our group also has a daily Solarium ritual...love that space! Just crazy about the Explorer:p
moofus Posted June 5, 2005 #33 Share Posted June 5, 2005 Great review. Was a great cruise for us as well. We made the mistake of staying up till 4 the night before we were to debark. We had white tags, too. But didn't wake up until the cabin steward was kicking us out. so Off we dashed, no coffee, no cola, no water, and leftover booze in our system,, oh yea,, the "kids" too. We had to pound on thier cabin door for awhile and drag their buts out of bed. Anyway, eventhough we had white tags, we had to wait in an incredably long winding line with everyone who was getting off at one time. At one point this older black gentleman came up to me with his tag ( green I think) trying to figure out if his had been called or not, and said "excuse me, but what color are you" and I replied "white". Well. everyone in the line was cracking up and I was so hungover I didn't even get it...DUHHHHH. But once I caught on, it was pretty funny. My fututre daughter in law had the where with all to say... "no really we are white".... I mean our TAGS are white". It was a long wait for our bags, as they had already taken them off the carousel and moved them to the side. A very long drive back to Orlando.... But a great time on the cruise. I am leaving this Friday for a 3 day out of Canaveral with a girlfriend,,, can't wait! She is into excersice and will watch what she eats and will make sure we aren't hungover on the debark... but I'll have fun anyway!
grizzy Posted June 6, 2005 Author #34 Share Posted June 6, 2005 CruisinDawn, I bet you're looking forward to the Freedom. GCBCKat57, Our entire group loves the Solarium. It's a great place for a nap as well. Chris

grizzy Posted June 7, 2005 Author #36 Share Posted June 7, 2005 moofus, Great story! I was part of that winding line outside the Casino as well. In all of my past cruises getting off the ship was never a problem...it was just the long line on the gangway to customs. Have fun this weekend! :D I saw some of your posts on the Bahamas board...let me know what you guys end up doing. We might be taking the Sovereign in a couple of months. TTCruiser Posted June 10, 2005 #37 Share Posted June 10, 2005 I've only been back from this sailing for just under a month and the depression still isn't gone...time to get busy planning another one I suppose!
TamaLee Posted June 10, 2005 #38 Share Posted June 10, 2005 I've only been back from this sailing for just under a month and the depression still isn't gone...time to get busy planning another one I suppose! That's why I have to have one booked before I go. That way I don't suffer from severe post cruise depression.

KillaFee Posted June 13, 2005 #40 Share Posted June 13, 2005 Heehehee....your review was HILARIOUS and sounds exactly like what mine would say if I ever got around to writing one. My boyfriend, his sister, & her husband (we're all in our 20's) are going to be on the Explorer in September so it's pretty sweet to read a recent review where people weren't analyzing the carpet fibers for wear and tear. You guys should really look into going on the Radiance class ships I'm should you'd have a blast!! The bar in the Starquest Disco/Viking Crown lounge SPINS :D and the pool tables are cool. You also alot more glass that directs your attention to the sea compared to the Voyager class. I didn't miss the promenade and neither did anyone else we were with that had been on both classes but hey when it comes down to it... they all kick @ss!! Thanks again for the side splitting review
Merion_Mom Posted June 13, 2005 #41 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I swear the comment to the port worker sounded great in my head, but went horribly wrong once it was said aloud. Open mouth, insert foot...LOL. Anyway, who wouldn't want to cruise with our group...look at the things you can laugh about all week! Oh, I know just how you feel! When we were in St. Thomas, we went into one of those typical touristy gift shops, and we saw a sign "White Kids T-Shirts" - talk about doing a double-take! Shanafan Posted June 13, 2005 #42 Share Posted June 13, 2005 Great review! You have a great sense of humor.......and I really enjoyed reading your review.......and laughing. TTCruiser Posted June 13, 2005 #43 Share Posted June 13, 2005 KillaFee - Thanks for recommending the Radiance ships to us. We've been kinda hesitant to leave the comfort of the Promenade on the Voyager class for something different. It's good to see people in our age group giving the thumbs up try switching boats. Anyway, have a great time on the Explorer in September...are you going Eastern or Western?
Shanafan Posted June 13, 2005 #44 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I agree with trying the Radiance class ships. We were on the Explorer but we found we liked the Jewel even better. Not that I wouldn't think twice about going on the Voyager class again, but I think it is half the fun to check out the different ships.
moofus Posted June 13, 2005 #45 Share Posted June 13, 2005 moofus, Great story! Have fun this weekend! :D I saw some of your posts on the Bahamas board...let me know what you guys end up doing. We might be taking the Sovereign in a couple of months. Chris We just got home,,, had a great time. The weather was horrible with high seas the first night. Appearantly, the Captain had to go through some rough wind and re do his course a bit, so we were about 4 hours late getting in to Nassau. Had decided to take the ship excursion, sail and snorkel, which when I went to book it the night of departure only had 16 out of 60 people registered, so I figured it would be a nice uncrowded excursion. Decided to wait until the next morning to book. When we were 4 hours late, most all the other excursions were cancelled. Well, my friend decided she would rather walk around and go to Atlantis so we didn't do the Sail and Snorkel. People at our table went and said it was nice, crowded to the max, litttle visibality, and it motored most of the way. Glad we didn't do it. We were miserable in Nassau, hot and tired and humid, overcast and when we did the straw market, I thought my friend was going to run screaming out from all the people pressing you and it smelled like B.O so bad. We were a little hung over anyway, I couldn't wait to leave. But she had to see it at least once. Went over to Atlantis for air conditioning and to be in a classier place. Did a little paper towel bath in the restroom. Played a little roulette and lost. Then I went to the 1.00 Whell of Fortune machine. Put in 3.00 and BINGO, won 500 on the wheel. Most I have ever won on a slot and at Atlantis. We left and called it a day. But we did party all night! The last day in Coco Cay we rented the snorkel gear and spent the better part of the day snorkeling. It was a beautiful day. The water was very rough with losts of opposing current. We did it. Glad we did but we were both exhausted when we finished. Coming home was the pits, as usual, ( you know, the packing and organizing, and the depression of getting off the ship.) Debarkation was a breeze. We had priority due to Platinum Membership or because of the suite, I don't know. We just walked right off and got our bags and were in the car by 8:30. Oh Yes, they no longer do Lobster night on 3,4,5 day cruises. Our waitress told us that. I was very surprised and to tell you the truth, the food was not very good. I usually never complain about RCCI food., but this time it was less than mediocre ( sp?). Overall we had a blast though and would do a 4-5 day again. 3 isn't long enough. grizzy Posted June 14, 2005 Author #46 Share Posted June 14, 2005 moofus, Sounds like overall you had a good time. Nice going on the slots :D ! That kinda sucks about the Lobster and about the food in general. So you noticed a difference in the quality that we got a month ago? How about the quality of breakfast, lunch, and snacks (like pizza)? Chris
grizzy Posted June 14, 2005 Author #47 Share Posted June 14, 2005 KillaFee, Thanks! It's funny what people let bother them on vacation. I've been going back and forth on the Radiance Class issue. I'm glad to hear that you guys didn't miss the promenade or other features of the Voyager class that much. Enjoy your Explorer cruise!!! Merion_Mom, That's hilarious! I would have got a picture of that.
