Key West Winery

Hello All,

 

We're booked on the Magic in September for our Honeymoon and I personally love Florida (will live there and almost have my fiance convinced). We were in St. Augustine for one of our three trips to Florida last year and discovered Florida Fruit Wines and have been keeping them in business ever since. I saw that they have a Key West Winery there... is there a tour or anything exciting to do or is it just a shop with wine tastings?

Also, if we bought wine there, would we be able to bring it back onto the ship and back in Galveston or would it apply to our limit of what we can bring back to the US?

You can buy bottles of wine at the Key West Winery ---> http://www.thekeywestwinery.com/

...and if the number of bottles is a concern, you can always have them shipped home.

 

(I think all of their wine is , er, ah, 2nd rate)

It's not really a winery and their "wines" are not the traditional "made with grapes" kind of wine. It's pineapple, mango, coconut, lychee, etc. As a confirmed wino, I cannot recommend any of their "wines".

We were there in October and I agree... definitely not high quality wine. However, they're tasty, fun, and a little out there... typical Key West.

 

We purchases several "sippy bag" sized servings... an excellent picnic addition to an adult lunch! :D

They are tasty - fun wines. I had a cranberry wine and it was delicious.

I love their watermelon wine! Agreed, it's not the best quality, and it's a bit pricey, but it's a fun souvenir!

I own wine shops in Ohio and we used to carry Big Pecker red & white. Mostly we carried it JUST for the label and name. It was only $9.99 here. Down there its $24.99.

 

But I am soooo curious about the tomato wine...HMMMM

do they sell it in pouches vs a bottle, so easier to transport onto ship?

I purchased wine from there several years ago and brought back to the ship and did not attempt,to hide it.

It was not confiscated and to this day I wonder how I managed it.

What do you think happened to allow me to take it to our stateroom?
