AK Wife Posted June 11, 2016 #1779 Share Posted June 11, 2016 So tea coffee water juice & milk are all free at breakfast? With you saying its all covered with Cheers, not sure if you meant having the above will come off your daily quota! A lot of your ?'s can be answered @Carnival FAQ page. Here is the info for Cheers! https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1106/kw/drinks%20on%20ship Only alcohol drinks count for your 15. Bottled water is not free but you can purchase a 12-pack at The Fun Shops for $3.99 and have it in your fridge when you board. The Lido buffet will have juices, tea, generic coffee. Specialty coffees from the coffee shop are explained in the Cheers! section.:)
mufc99 Posted June 11, 2016 #1780 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Only alcohol drinks count for your 15. Seems like the more I read the more I get confused! :-) Read somewhere that somebody includes their bottles of water in the Cheers count!
E&B Posted June 11, 2016 #1781 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Seems like the more I read the more I get confused! :-) Read somewhere that somebody includes their bottles of water in the Cheers count! If you purchase Cheers, you can get 15 alcoholic drinks per day and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks (almost everything non-alcoholic including water). But, you have to go to a bar or coffee shop to get water. It won't be delivered to your room. If you don't buy Cheers, you can buy bottled water for $3.99 per 12-pack and have it delivered to your room. If you don't buy Cheers, coffee, tea, tap water and lemonade are free during the day. And juice at breakfast are as well. All other beverages (including bottled water) must be paid for if you don't have Cheers. My friend needed it to take her medication and it was great to be able to have it right there when we got up in the morning. We also ordered two packages of water, even though the four of us over 21 will have Cheers. My 18 year old drinks water almost exclusively. And we thought it would be handy just to grab for going ashore rather than stopping at a bar or shop to get it first. I have did the ultimate ship tour on Princess. The water out of your tap is the same or better than bottled water. Their water filtration system is amazing. I know a few bucks don't matter that much but we just grab a bottle of water when we get a coctail. Gotta stay hydrated. Section517 Posted June 11, 2016 #1785 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Good morning all. I will be boarding the Legend on a 7-day Alaska cruise in a little more than a week. My better half and I are on the fence (for various reasons) whether to purchase the Cheers Program for ourselves. Strictly sticking to my wants, I would like to know if there is/are bar(s) on the ship that offer a variety of whisky and bourbon. I mainly prefer scotch neat (Oban 14, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore). It's good scotch, but nothing high end. Does the cruise ship offer such types? I don't want to spend $400 per person knowing that all that's offered is Cutty Sark, Dewar's, etc.

If I can avoid 12 trips to the bar for $3.99 that is convenient for me. If I'm already at the bar getting a drink I will have to wait five minutes for the bottle of water (I know this varies). So if I wait twelve times that's an hour. My time is worth far more than $3.99 an hour.
sngoebel@live.com Posted June 11, 2016 #1787 Share Posted June 11, 2016 I just got off the Carnival Elation at Jacksonville on Thursday. The Cheers program has a high cost per day. So, in order to make it worthwhile, you have to drink more. Like the original post, you have to drink at least 5 drinks to see any savings. Most of the passengers were responsible drinkers, but some of them weren't. There were many young people (early 20s) that were taking advantage of the program. The problem is that they were drinking way too much. I saw a group of young women every night get progressively drunker and drunker. They lost control. They could have been hurt, taken advantage of or assaulted. I watched the bartenders continually give them more and more drinks when they were obviously extremely drunk. The bartenders should have cut them off but they didn't. Fifteen drinks a day may not sound like much for an entire day, but when you are 100-120 pounds, that is a huge amount of alcohol! It became very awkward to have my son see their behavior. We had to leave some venues and shows because of it. The problem is: there is no place on the ship where the alcohol wasn't free flowing so my son was exposed to drunks the whole trip - not very family friendly. If they are going to do free flowing alcohol, it would be better on an adults only cruise.

drafterdw Posted June 11, 2016 #1791 Share Posted June 11, 2016 There's been a lot of cheers threads, I've even made one, I figured if we could get all the FAQ in one place, we could help keep questions from being answered all day every day over and over. I've pulled these questions from existing threads from users, including myself. Answers confirmed by Carnival before posting (as of 2/18/2012). If I missed anything, please PM me, or ask, and I have no problem calling carnival to find out their answer and adding it to the list. FAQ: QUESTION: How much will I pay for Cheers? A: You will pay $49.40USD For EVERY person in your cabin who is over 21 years old, EACH night you are on a cruise. This means even if your cabin mate doesn't drink, you will still pay for them to be on the cheers program. Keep in mind that you do NOT pay for Disembarkment day, and you can sign up on the second day on board, paying for only that day through the last day, but you will be charged for each drink you order before you signed up separately. EXAMPLE #1: You and your wife are cruising on the Freedom, on a 6 night cruise, and sign up for Cheers on the first day. You will pay $592.80 for the program. ($494 if you sign up on the second day) EXAMPLE #2: You sail with your 19 year old daughter on a 6 night cruise, and sign up you pay $296.40. ($247.00 if you sign up on the second day) QUESTION: Do I get charged for DisEmbarkment day/ Embarkment day? A: You will NOT be charged for Disembarkement day. You will be charged for Embarkment day if you purchase the program on embarkment day. QUESTION: Can I get this on Every Cruise? A: NO Currently the program is available on the following ships only: Carnival Breeze Carnival Conquest Carnival Dream Carnival Freedom Carnival Glory Carnival Legend Carnival Liberty Carnival Magic Carnival Miracle Carnival Pride Carnival Splendor Carnival Valor Carnival Victory (last list update 12/31/2012) QUESTION 3: My Wife is Pregnant, will Carnival make an exception since she can't drink? A: NO. Carnival will make no exceptions for any reason, including medical, EVERYONE in the cabin over 21 will be charged for the program. QUESTION: Is it worth it? A: (thanks to Vinman13) Depends on how much you drink. If you are a straight domestic beer drinker ($5.75/drink plus gratuity) it will take almost 8 beers (in a day) to break even. Then you will basically get beers 9 through 15 in a day free. Saving you up to $49.79/day. If you are a Grey Goose Martini drinker ($9.95/drink plus gratuity) it will take less than 5 (in a day) to break even. Then you will get martinis 6 through 15 in a day free. Saving you up to $122.24/day. QUESTION: Is it truly unlimited drinks? A: NO, you are limited to 15 drinks per 24 hour period. The 24 hour period is 6am to 6am the next morning, so your 15 drinks don't restart at midnight, but at 6am the next morning. IN ADDITION, Carnival has stated that the staff has been trained to cut you off if you get too drunk, and they will. You are also limited to 1 drink every 5 minutes. QUESTION: I'm a Bears fan and can put away a case of beer on a Sunday, Can I still get more drinks after 15? A: YES, but you will have to pay for them, as long as you are not too drunk, As a Bears fan, you should be fine up to 30 or so beers a day. QUESTION: Can I drink anything I want? A: NO, Beverages Included In The Program: All spirits (including cocktails), as well as beer and wine by the glass with a $10.00 or lower menu price. All other beverage-related programs including cookbooks and bar books, beverage seminars and classes, as well as cigars. QUESTION: Can I order a bucket of beer and have it count as 4 drinks? A: NO, one drink at a time with at least 5 minutes between drinks. However as many have stated, you can ask for unopened drinks, and save them up yourself. QUESTION: Is soda Included? A: YES. "bottomless Bubbles" is included in the program, which gives you unlimited soda (6.00 Per Person/ Per Day Value). Other non-alcoholic drinks also do not count towards your limit. QUESTION: Do soda's count towards the 15 drinks? A: NO, Sodas are truly unlimited and do not count towards your 15 drink minimum. QUESTION: Can I get drinks for me and my cabin mate from the bar at the same time? A: NO, Everyone must get their own drink so they can tell if one person is too drunk, and needs to be cut off. (carnival's answer) QUESTION: Can I get specialty coffee, or redbull/monster/bawls/other energy drink, with this program? A: NO, the program does not include those beverages. It also does not include bottled water(25% discount applies to bottled water not in the mini-bar), mini-bar, or room service drinks. QUESTION: Does cheers work on Half Moon Cay? AK Wife Posted June 12, 2016 #1794 Share Posted June 12, 2016 Should really have a CC manager delete this thread since it is mostly "outdated" info. I have purchased Cheers! & BB for our next cruise but went ahead & purchased the bottled water for our stateroom fridge so we can have chilled water @night. Worth the $ to me to already have a stocked fridge. Less than a pack of water in Alaska! :p Carnival website states: (FAQ Cheers! Guests must be 21 or older to purchase CHEERS! and everyone in the same stateroom must purchase the program. We have enhanced our CHEERS! beverage program to include a greater variety of non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a wider selection of high quality brand-name spirits and wines by the glass. The cost to purchase CHEERS! prior to your cruise is $49.95 USD per person, per day plus 15% gratuity. For those guests who pre-purchase CHEERS!, it will be activated upon boarding the ship (except for ships sailing from Galveston, Mobile and New York). Group bookings (consisting of a minimum of 30 adults) can purchase CHEERS! prior to the cruise by contacting Group Event Planning (all adult guests in the group must purchase the program; all minors in the group must purchase Bottomless Bubbles program). For pre-purchase orders, a message card will be placed in guests' staterooms on embarkation day with the following notation: "Please bring your Sail & Sign Card to the Casino Bar to activate this program". A sticker will be placed on the card for the use of the CHEERS! program. roxette Posted June 12, 2016 #1797 Share Posted June 12, 2016 Just bought Cheers for my Vista cruise in august. I've read pretty much everything about it. It's totally clear what's included, alcohol wise. It's the water I have questions about. How about Perrier and/or Pellegrino? Included? It says that 500 ml water bottles are included, but the thing is. Thise brands are not available in 500 ml bottkes, only smaller, or larger. Thanks for your time

roxette Posted June 12, 2016 #1799 Share Posted June 12, 2016 Haven't you just answered your own question? Not quite, a regulat 500 ml water bottle is what? $1,25? 330ml perrier is 4? On the other hand, it also says "other non alcoholic bottled beverages" are included. So yes, they should be included.
