Hertz Shuttle to POM from Miami airport?

I thought I had read that there is a Hertz shuttle from the Miami airport to POM. We're flying into Ft Lauderdale, staying in Lauderdale for one night and then cruising out of POM. We thought a 1 day car rental might be less expensive than a taxi or even car service. Please share your thoughts and experiences. Thanks so much and happy cruising!

Not from MIA - Hertz shuttles to POM from it's downtown Miami location. From MIA National, Alamo, & Thrifty offer POM shuttles. Good luck! :)

Good morning, John. Thanks for the reply! Do you know the location of the Hertz location in downtown that has the shuttle? There are so many listed on the Hertz website -- want to be sure I select the right one! Thanks again so much for your help!

When I look up that address, the website says:

PLEASE NOTE: There is not a vehicle rental office at this location. This vehicle may need to be coordinated for pick-up and/or drop-off.

 

Sounds like we wouldn't be able to drop off the car there.

We have used this office many times, it is 5 mins from the port,

I usually drop the wife off, check the luggage and leave her to wait

While I take the car back.

If ther is no shuttle waiting one of the guys usually

Drops me back in the car join hertz gold it makes

For easier pick up.

We did the same thing, stayed in FLL. The next morning we took the hotel shuttle back to FLL and then took SAS right from FLL straight to POM. I think LOTS of people do this. Have you considered that rather than renting a car for the 30 minute drive?

I had a reservation for 1-DAY rental the day of disembarkation. I was assured that Hertz would pick up at POM and transport me to their DT location to pick up the car. No shuttle came. Finally one of the other rental co. Gave us a ride to Hertz. 20 people were waiting in the office. We could maybe get a car after everyone else! We could leav our luggage and come back. We only needed a car for 8 hours. We did not want to spend a day in the Hertz office. We took a taxi to MIA. We rented a car from another co. at sky-high rates, plus $40 for tipping the shuttle and taxi plus tip. What choice did we have? Hertz never responded to my communications.

read too many horror stories of ppl waiting for over an hour in line to get their reserved car. have you had the same experience? (I do have hertz Giold). Is there a fee or any restrictions to enter port area to drop off or pick up ppl in your party?

Needed a car post cruise to drive to PBI- We made the mistake of reserving with Hertz- usually have good experiences with them and they do have a free shuttle which picks up at POM to the downtown location. Waited about 20 min for the shuttle but well over 1 hour in line at the office for a car. Very disappointing!
