coasters Posted April 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2013 For anyone interested, here's my take on the Viking River Danube Waltz trip. Just returned from the April 3 (extension in Prague) followed by the April 7 - 13 cruise. We had a wonderful experience (again) with Viking! Here is the link to my journal. It's 11 pages, be patient. http://glevitz.com/ebayimages/DanubeWaltzJournal.htm
NoVaCruiser60 Posted April 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2013 well worth the time to read. One thing coasters: when i hit the link, my browser said it could not open it, as it was a local file. I typed out your link title and got to it that way. If this is just my issue, please ignore. One question: were there any stops/ports you wished you had more time at, and vice versa? coasters Posted April 17, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted April 17, 2013 NoVaCruiser60 - thanks - I have fixed the link. About more time - yes, had we to do this again, we would definately add the optional Budapest extension. There's so much to see and do! All other days & tours were just about right for us. OkieCruiser49 Posted April 17, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2013 Thanks for the great summary of your trip. we leave next week for the Viking Romantic Danube (Budapest to Nuremberg), and your journal will be a great help in planning our days. Were there any issues related to both ships (Vienna & Prestige) being on the same itinerary? Thanks, George

jacksonnh Posted April 17, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2013 Hi Jerry, Wife and I did this trip and the passages to eastern europe as a combined tour in 2011. Especially remember the visit to the lady's home. During the eastern europe cruise the ship made an unscheduled stop to view the Roman ruins and military camp at Viminacium, Serbia. This was a fascinating archaeological site near the Danube that I'm glad we had a chance to experience. Thanks for the Waltz down memory lane. coasters Posted April 17, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted April 17, 2013 George No problems having the two ships on the same itinerary. We were often tied together at the dock, only joint venue was the concert at the stock exchange building. Still went well. Was nice in towns to meet some of the folks from the Vienna vessel. coasters Posted April 17, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted April 17, 2013 My credit card has a regular strip ... Not sure she knew how to scan it. I stopped using it to avoid further problems. Jerry
