Homewood Inn & Suites Miami AP West...

So after looking many places, and the parking company cancelling my reservation to only email me the next evening that it was a mistake, i began to look for a place to park our car that we are driving down with. So this place popped up, and with the price + great reviews. I figured it would be a good choice. I just got off the phone and apparently the shuttle runs at 10,11,12 and 1 to the port. Has anyone experienced this hotel and the shuttle? We want to beat the rush if possible. Anyone know how long the shuttle takes to reach the port, how many people can be fit on to it? I believe the shuttle is $10 per person, maybe a taxi is a better choice? I hear about $25-30 for a taxi... Between the taxi costs and shuttle, essentially it would be the same price just parking in a garage near the port (nw 2nd st) and take their 10 minute shuttle over... for free. Thoughts, experiences?

I stayed there and liked it. It was very clean and the breakfast buffet was nice enough. My one BR suite had 2 (queen?) beds in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room, as well as a decent kitchen. The store by the front desk sold some frozen foods and snacks, and there was a bag of popcorn in the kitchen. There was lots of parking. I didn't use the shuttle or taxi.

The Homewood Inn is a nice enough, newish airport area hotel. It's only drawback is that walking to anywhere (except the hotel next door) involves crossing a major thoroughfare that will challenge the less agile. Your taxi estimate is about right. For two, the taxi will cost a little more than the shuttle but will provide some added convenience. In light traffic, it's 20 minutes (possibly a little less) to the port.

Agreed, which is why i went with this hotel instead of the cheap la quinta. This one just happens to have free parking which works out. I most likely will take a taxi unless the 10am shuttle works out.

Taxi from most MIA area hotels to POM will take about 15 minutes and should cost under $30. Good luck! :)
