Guys, as said above, this is no different than a slot machine or claw game. The game will only pay out at certain points. For example, lets say that you had a 100% rate of timing it perfectly every single time, you would win as often as the guy beside you doing it virtually blind. Below is a link to a page in the manual. It shows where you set the payout rate on the machine. If you do not realize, slot machines and claw machines are all programmed this way. There is a video that im trying to hunt down that shows a guy how has filmed it from two different angles. The actual push of the button and the key. It shows that when he presses it, it can be a fraction off either way and causes you to lose.

I'm a gambler and don't mind taking risks when I'm on vacation. I've seen quite a few pictures that John Heald had posted of passengers that actually won playing Cash Cube. Knowing that I do understand that it's a game of chance, and not everyone will win. However, I do plan on playing it myself while I am cruising next October on the Dream!

Your right. They dont make major profits for the cruise line by being stupid. they make it by their customers making illogical wagers in many cases

Has anyone played the Cash Cube in the casino? The one where you have to get the "S" shaped piece into a space on the cube? Any luck? What are your thoughts? How much did you put into this machine trying to win (on average)?

We were on the Magic last month and in a 15 minute period the machine was emptied out. The casino manger was called and they were not happy block off the machine with yellow tape and didn't fill it back up. This was on a Friday night up to the time the machine malfunction only one small prize was given out but the 15 min period it gave 2 - $2500, 2 $1000 and all the other smaller prizes. I just wished I was playing it when it happened. They make enough on all the tight a** slot machine to cover anything they lost on the Cash Cube.;)

Must have seen people play at least 500 turns and not one winner and the people keep lining up.

 

Giving me BJ any day for at least a reasonable chance of coming out ahead.

The key master, cube, cut the line, and stacker game are "rigged" just like any slot machine. They can be set to win a certain amount depending on how many tries are put in.

 

This is well documented on the internet. Just search google. Here's what a quick search revealed:

 

"The odds of winning are dependent on two machine settings that make the game rigged.

The first setting is called the compulsory upper deviation, where a vertical displacement is added to the key. The default upper deviation is 1.6 mm, and the maximum possible is 3.6 mm.

The second way the key master or vault is rigged is through a payout rate setting. The default is 1 payout per 700 credits, although it can be set to 1 payout per 9999 maximum. Each of the 3 rows can have a different payout rate, but at the 1 payout per 700 credits, this means that the prize HAS to be worth more than $700 to make it favorable to play. If the prize is a $500 iPad, and assuming the payout ratio is 1 to 1500 credits, for every dollar you put in, your expected payout is $1*500/1500 = $0.33. "

Interesting that the top deviation is 4mm. So all of the openings are off by that much. Means adjusting for the that deviation.

I just came back from a cruise on the Carnival Magic and I played both games cash cube and the casino vault. I won $1000 on the vault where you get the key in they slot. I had only spent $15 to win it. However I am a musician so I was trying to test a theory where I was counting to a certain tempo speeding it up and slowing it down until I hit it. Worked for me. As far as cash cube where the S fits in the slot it is possible I watched a guy win $2500 on his fourth try early one morning. The thing is that the s is actually thick and is about 4 inches or so away from the slot so it looks like it is going to go in but that's where you start to try and figure out exactly where you need to release it. It can be done you just have to figure it out it is a puzzle. The house always wins its only a matter of how.

I know that the SEAG Vault game is programmed to allow winners using a predetermined amount of plays. I was very curious about the machine. I do not really gamble, a buck here or there, but I spent a lot of time watching people put money into the game. Close to 90% of the players over shot the key hole. And a about 10% undershot the hole.

 

If it was skill, it would be closer to a 50/50 split between over shooting and under shooting. I noticed this the first couple days. I then stood back and wtched and you can actually see the machine continue to move after button is released.

 

The reason it over shoots the hole is because the machine goes in one direction. If you release the button to soon, machine will stop and the key under shoots. If you release at a point where it will make the hole, the only way the machine can keep you from winning is allowing the device to continue to rise until it will miss the hole. This is why 90% of the players over shoot the hole. And usually by a hair. The one that undershoot, missed a bit more then a hair.....for thee most part.

 

With this observation, and the curiosity level high, I did research on the machine when I got home. The machine is made by SEGA. It can be programmed for different win levels. It will not allow a win until it is ready (x amount taken in). Once it it ready to hit, the next person with a good hit, will get the key in the hole.

 

Research it people, it is not all skill. The machine will not allow a win until it is ready to win.

700-1 is the default setting. As for BJ, never pay for it. Well might have to buy some jewelry.

Just off the 9/14 sailing of Magic. I think this game is 1% skill and 99% luck. The $2500 was hit twice. There was always a line.

I invested about $10 right after we boarded before a crowd had a chance to gather and was not lucky. You can play it even when the casino is not open.

 

I have seen many winners on JH's page. I will probably try again next time as well (just in case) but again, only a small amount.

I wondering if its timing becuase my husband won on the last night of our cruise at 3a, a $1000.00 in the cash cube game. We were allowed to keep all the hundreds, 10 bundles which we shared with the kids the next morning.

 

On a different cruise I won $200.00 in the vault game. I watched somebody win the $500.00 and Ipad in the vault game the same day.
