PureLuck347 Posted August 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2013 We are leaving tomorrow, I thought I had it all under control, until this morning, when it was cold and raining here. I hope someone can help me with my checklist for clothes. We are taking our 9&11 yr old kids with us. What about pants, foul weather gear? What would you suggest? Bermuda, 7night, NCL My list for them: 3-swim suits 3-pr socks 7-undies Pajamas 3-4 shorts 5- tshirts (kids can spill!) 1-sweatshirt Daughter- 2 dresses, casual sun dress type Son- 2 dress shirts, and kahki's Sneakers, flip flops, dressier shoes for dinners, water shoes Do I get those plastic ponchos, or foul weather gear? Or just an umbrella? If we are going to beaches, do I bring my own lg beach towels? Also, can we pack a box of granola bars? We bring granola bars and water with us at home when we go to the beach to sustain the sanity in the children! I always pack too much of one thing and not enough of another, so any help is greatly appreciated! PattyG12 Posted August 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2013 you can take granola bars but they also offer them on the ship. I don't think you'll need any foul weather gear. The weather in Bermuda is very much like the weather in Myrtle Beach. If it rains, you still won't be cold. The ship will have beach towels for you ... no need to bring your own. You can also get water from the ship before you leave or purchase some at the beach in Bermuda. Have fun!! Relax.
meglet Posted August 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Forecasting weather in BDA can always be a tricky proposition, but you could check out the forecast on weather dot com for the days you'll be on the island. Sometimes I find the ship's air conditioning strong, especially after a day at the beach, so I appreciated having pants for night time back on the ship. paul929207 Posted August 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Have you checked the weather forecast for your ports?
SadieN Posted August 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Your clothing list sounds just about right. Our theory is if you can pack it all into a 22" suitcase and a tote bag you can bring it. We always bring some sort of snack food with us. We also bring some cereal boxes from the ship onshore with us.
Rare Scrapnana Posted August 8, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2013 10 day forecast looks pretty good. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Hamilton+BDXX0002:1:BD I think your packing list sounds good. Relax and have a great time!
cjnwildfire Posted August 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2013 $1 disposable ponchos are great. You can find them at Walmart or some place like that. Take a cheap shoe organizer, to put on your bathroom door for the smaller things, like sunglasses and sunscreen, combs and toothbrushes (I think it's great for underwear and socks too) and assign your kids the bottom two rows and make them use them for their personal stuff, this will help you keep your room neater. A pair of dress flip flops goes a long way from the pool to formal night. Remember that comfort beats fashion. No one will notice if you wear a pair of pants of shorts twice. Take clothes pins and a couple of WIRE hangers to hang swimsuits on your balcony (if you have one) chairs for faster drying time. There will be a clothes line in your shower as well. Have fun and dont sweat it if you forget something!:)
dorisis Posted August 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2013 The ponchos are lighter and take up less room and are not as easy to lose. I hope the shorts are Bermuda shorts :-)).
cruiseman40 Posted August 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I always tend to still overpack and if you know they have laundry service you can take even less. Ponchos from walmart, etc anywhere cheap is a great idea too. http://www.myweather.com/index.html
PureLuck347 Posted August 8, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Thank you all so much! I have each kid packed, they each have their own suitcase. I am almost there, and husband can figure it out for himself when he get back from golfing.... It seems like I don't have much packed, but the bags are full. I need to put my organizer in the bags as well, almost forgot! Thanks for that reminder! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
cb at sea Posted August 9, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 9, 2013 It's summer...you really don't need "foul weather" gear! Shorts, shirts, underwear, pants for dinner, and swimwear....that's about it!
