Back to Back Cruises Question

Pardon my ignorance if I missed this somewhere, but just a few quick questions for those that have done back to backs before.

I just booked the same rooms for each cruise. Do I have to phone Carnival or go to the on board guest services so that I don't have to leave my room/ship on the end of the first cruise?

What is the easiest way to make this as smooth as possible?

Do I have to get a new Sail and Sign card?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Alex

The night before debarkation on your first cruise you will get a letter in your cabin to meet in the Lobby at Guest Services. You will be escorted down through customs with a Carnival staff member and will then head right back on the ship. You will be the first ones back onboard.

You will receive a different sail and sign card for the second cruise

We just recently booked our first B2B also. I was told there is no need to pack up. Just leave everything in your room. Near the end of the first cruise you will get a letter from Guest Services letting you know where to meet during debarkation, usually in the main atrium. Someone from the ship will walk you down the walkway to customs, once cleared you will be walked to the embarkation area to get your new Sail & Sign card and let back on before any other group is let on board. We had about 45 minutes on the ship alone before the first group was let on. The whole process took us only 30 minutes from leaving the ship to clearing through customs, getting the new Sail & Sign cards and being let back on board. ;)

Just keep in mind that it really is 2 separate cruises, so your S&S account will be closed charged off and you will receive a final account statement.

If you gamble and have money on your players bank it won't carry over to the 2nd week you have to cash out just as though you were leaving the ship.

I always go to Guest Services about mid-week the 1st week to ensure that they have me on the B2B list.

If there is someplace special that you would like to sit in the MDR on the 2nd leg, go ask the Maitre'd about mid-week to see if he can approve your request.

I also make sure my cabin steward knows that I'm on a B2B and staying in the same cabin. I let him know that I'll spread up my bed on turnaround day, but I will need fresh towels.

You are free to come and go from your cabin all day.

I did my first B2B in December and it was great. I'm booked for another B2B in October. What others have said was exactly what I experienced. I did not have the same room for both cruises but my room steward told me to just throw little things and fold up clothes in my suit case and leave my hang up stuff hanging. He moved all of it to the new room and the hang up clothes didn't even get wrinkled. I even had a load of laundry to be done (I'm platinum so get free laundry) and the steward washed and folded it and it was on the bed in my new room when I got there. Normally, you can't bring open bottles of booze through customs but since my stuff stayed on board I was able to drink the rest of my Bon Voyage liquer on the second cruise. I don't know if they always do this, but another thing they did that was really cool was deliver a big basket that contained fruit, candy, and a bottle of Champagne to my cabin on the first day of the second cruise with a card that said Thankyou for sailing with us again. I guess I'll find out if thats standard on my B2B in October. I actually ended up giving most of the the fruit and candy to my cabin stewards but I wouldn't mind getting a bottle of Champagne again! :D

Just back from a B2B the above information is correct, brought all our wine allowance on first cruise, just told the person at desk who was checking liquids that we were doing a B2B. (they did not ask to see documents but do have them ready if they ask). We left ship between cruise to get more supplies, we were given intransit cards to show the staff once we came back through security to board ship and did not have to wait to reboard (even though they were calling by zones to board, even if there is a line waiting to get through to all procedures we just went ahead of everyone).

I would strongly suggest that you go to guest services on first cruise and speak with them to let them know you are doing a B2B and tell your room steward.

oh and we did order duty free on first night of first cruise and were very lucky that they delivered it to our room the last night (even though we did not use it second cruise

our fruit basket was just fruit and nuts

but happy with that

Enjoy your cruise, now looking at doing another B2B next year.

Re. the champagne that was given to us for doing B2B. I took my bottle to the MDR and the hostess exchanged it for a cold bottle of white wine which I then enjoyed at dinner for a few nights. I'm the only one that drinks occasionally so did not want to open the champagne for just me.

Everyone must leave the ship, you will escorted off thru customs and back on by a representative.

What ship and dates are you cruising? My husband and I are booked for b2b on the Dream starting Jan 25.

We are cruising on the dream 1/25 first leg and 2/1 second leg...sounds like we'll be on the same cruises...I'm so very excited. But trying to figure out all the extra details now...hotel/parking among other things.

Great to hear about switching the bottle! I've been on 3 b2b's and never knew you could do that! See STILL learning things on here! lol....and JANA...Will be checking to see if you sing on our b2b! lol

You can count on it. I can always be found in the karaoke bar at least for a small part of each day.

So, I assume from the responses that the bottle of champagne was not just a one time thing but rather that it's common with back to back cruises. That's great news!

That's pretty wicked! We booked several months ago for both weeks, but just booked the flights and hotel this week. We will stay at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach. It's got great rooms and a nice beach right off the hotel. Maybe we can meet up!
