Hello-we have about 5-6 hours after debarkation on a Sunday in Baltimore in February, any suggestions? It does not look like our ship has a bags program to send the luggage to the port, any other options? Any ideas on car rental etc? Thank you!

There are no rental car outlets near the Maryland Cruise Terminal. They are certainly available at BWI which is 10 to 12 miles away. They might also be available downtown.

Perhaps you can arrange to have Enterprise meet you at the pier. Quite possibly they could hold your bags until you return the car.

Of course you could lock them in the trunk of the car.

Attractions:

If you have never been to the Inner Harbor, make that a destination. There is much more than you can do in five hours. You need to make some choices say from this list:

National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center, USS Constellation, Port Discovery Children's Museum [one of the top five in the US], Sports Legends Museum and Hall of Fame at Camden Yards, Top of the World Observation Deck [in Baltimore's World Trade Center].

(They all have websites.)

And of course: Fort McHenry, Birthplace of the National Anthem, is only a mile or so from the terminal.

Enjoy your cruise and enjoy Baltimore!

All those places are great ideas!! I don't know how much time you'd want to spend outside, though (you could get lucky and it'll be beautiful out, who knows!)

If you are a sports fan, the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards is a must see. The Maryland science center is a ton of fun, as is the aquarium. The Industrial Museum is also pretty neat, but if you only have a few hours it may not be a good way to spend your time.

Port discovery is awesome if you have an under 9yo or so.

Tons of great food- Rusty Scupper if you like seafood, Little Italy for Italian and Fells Point for great bar food (love the Horse You Came in On saloon, there's also a bunch of neat Irish pubs).

Hope you can find a way to get out and explore Baltimore, it's an amazing little city!

Fort McHenry is a must see!! It is a beautiful place to walk around and even if you are not a history buff, the visitor center is amazing and the short video they show is so moving!!

Highly recommend Inner Harbor & Sports Legends.

Can easily see them both. The light rail station is just a few blocks west of the inner harbor (walkable) and the next station south is adjacent to the sports legends attraction near Camden Yards.

The light rail also goes right to BWI airport if you want to avoid the car rental thing.

I wouldn't recommend riding the light rail at night, but it's generally ok during the day. There are often loud & outspoken people riding the light rail though, so the longer journey to & from the airport is sometimes not real appealing. It's perfectly fine for shorter trips though.

If you're interested in shopping, check out Harborplace at the Inner Harbor. There's also a new attraction, the Ripley's Museum there. And adjacent to the National Aquarium(which I highly recommend) is a Maryland favorite, Phillip's Seafood. A huge Barnes&Noble is next door and is a nice place to relax out of the cold. For the most part, it is cold and windy in Baltimore in February.

the pier is not near downtown or even the airport( not walking distance)

renting is an option, since you can return it at the airport. Inner Harbor has all sorts of stuff to do..the Aquarium alone is worth it.

The Cruise Maryland port IS located downtown in Locust Point. You cannot walk anywhere from there but a taxi using Key Highway will take you less than 10 minutes to get to the Inner Harbor. Shouldn't be more than $10.
