Tipping Casino Hosts

On my recent cruise, the two casino hosts were just terrific. They ran the tournaments and made the whole experience fun. After I got off the ship, I started to wonder if I should have tipped them. I tip my dealers, cabin steward, waiters..ect. I feel kind of guilty that I did not think about it at the time. Do any of you tip the hosts?

Hi, on our P&O cruise on Oceana we had a fantastic casino host called Ruby. She really made our visit to the casino. I was also wondering what to do about about tipping her. On our last night aboard, I hung around and waited for her to go on a break, then very discreetly caught up with her and thanked her for making "loosing money" that much more pleasurable. At the same time I shook her hand and pressed a note into it. You could also tip them with casino chips. Hope this helps. :)

I would think it depends on your host if you tip or not on his/her attitude, helpfulness, etc.

I have a host at the Taj in Atlantic City, he is the best always gives me suites takes off all my food comps me a mobile scooter (I have trouble walking) gives me show tickets has NEVER said no to me getting a room. I throw him $100 every 4th trip or so. I don't do it every trip. But he is so great I have to give him something for all he does for me. So it will depend on the Host on the breakaway in March if I tip or not.

I was on the Explorer of the Seas in May and the casino host really took very good care of me. I have tried to tip my land-based casino host in the past and he has told me that he cannot accept any tips, so i was curious about how to handle this on the cruise. I actually went to the customer service desk and asked if their host would be allowed to accept a tip. The answer was "yes", so on the last night i pulled the host, Helen, aside and did just that!

My Land Casino Host also says he is "not allowed" to accept tips but I usually give him a kiss on the cheek and quietly put $$$$ in his pocket

Tipping your "host" would be like tipping the owner of a company....it's not really done...or at least, it's not supposed to be done!

It would be like giving your friend who invited you to dinner (your host or hostess) a "tip" when you're leaving...you wouldn't do that, would you?

I'm sorry but are you familiar with the casino rules of the game? I have a land host at a five star hotel that at one point told me that she was "not" able to accept the checks that I conveniently sent her after each visit.....but TOTALLY now accepts the "cash" that I mail in a thank you card!

Casino hosts DO accept AND expect to an extent - a tip! I always give a couple hundred to my favorite one or two hosts onboard.

Interestingly enough though....I also tip $100 to attendant when I win a jackpot of $1600 or hoer and was shocked to learn that they do NOT share these gratuities with the Cage/cashier employees OR the hosts! So then I felt obligated to throw another couple hundred in THAT direction .....

Always an adventure right? Figuring out who to tip, how much, etc! But also always a great time! I LOVE my time in the casino!

You obviously are comparing apes to oranges. If they (hosts) give you good service why not tip them. My host is a doll. I can get a hold of him any time. I have his cell number. I am going to bet you have no clue on casino ways.
