Not liking what princess has to offer for our March 17th Panama Canal cruise on the Island for San Juan del Sur excursions. Any suggestions out there will be greatly appreciated. We want something different. We are taking a trip in Cartagena with the friendsforColumbia.org and need a few more people to make the group worthwhile!

We walked outside the gate in San Juan Del Sur and found a taxi driver who spoke good English. Presented him a list of what we wanted to see, and he gave us a great tour at a very good price.

Look through the tour options for this port and list the things that interest you. Talk to the taxi drivers and make a deal !!

We've had two port stops in San Jan del Sur and very much enjoyed them both.

One the first, we took an excursion thru the ship to a working farm/ranch on a huge lake with two volcanos in the middle. One of them was active and we could see the smoke coming out. Where were a variety of activities to enjoy.

On the second we hung out in town at a bar overlooking the beach.

Very friendly locals there who appreciate cruisers coming and really want us to return.

There was a small brass band at the tender dock when we returned who did the best they could at playing "Stars & Stripes Forever". It was a nice gesture and everyone loved it.

We have nothing but good things to say about San Juan del Sur! :)

Please suggest want would be a fair taxi fee for a tour for 2 or 4 people.

Thanks so much!

I would not be able to suggest a price because we all have different interests and would have many different things on the list we present to the driver.

Look at the prices the ship charges for tours and decide for yourself if the items you want to see are worth the price the driver asks. If not, you may be able to negotiate a better price with him or delete some items from your list to lower the price.

A couple years ago at San Juan Del Sur we took a tour booked through Shoretrips.com. The tour was called "A Day at the Beach but that's not all". We had a fantastic time. We went to the beach where they filmed Survivor Nicuragua. Our driver was a young man named Lewis, he didn't speak a lot of English but he was fantastic. I highly recommend this tour.

We were just in San Juan del Sur, had been to Nicaragua before, so wanted something different that Granada and the volcanoes.

We booked online a 5 hour sail trip with Second Wind. There were six of us in our group and four or so others. We sailed from the harbor to a beautiful and empty private beach and back again. Great snacks were included; soft drinks, water, beer and rum, a lovely fruit plate and veggie plate and chips with dips.

The boat is not large, so be prepared to sit on top of the cabin/bow area, but we all absolutely loved the trip. We used the sails on the trip out, which is always special. Price ($50pp) was great too.
