Star Princess in Valparaiso, the port for Santiago Chile.

Looks like they are extending the docking facilities by enlarging the wharf. Lets hope they build a new cruise terminal at the same time as at present you arrive at the far left of this shot and after processing are bussed to the ship...

Yes, hopefully, they have a similar set up in BA where the terminal can be quite a distance form the ship depending on which dock they use and even with the closer ones, you still need the shuttle buses. I don't think they can do anything about that though.

Sun Princess in Bay of Islands.

You can just make out a tender heading back to the ship on the LH side of the pic.

Orion looks like a model compared to what Golden looked like against that wharf

Re the barrels.

Probably right about the barrel being worth more than it's content. BUT the barrel is used over and over again. So over the life of the barrel it's content is way more valuable than the barrel.

I have family and friends in the wine industry and the cost of Barrels is amazing, but they are either sued over and over again (for the cheep plonk) or sit for years and years and years with the one batch in them, (But then the bottles sell for an amazing price).

My dad worked for over 50 years carting beer, during his time there were three different types of Kegs (in fact only have been) wooden, steel and stainless steel, each changed was based largely on reducing the cost over the life of the keg.

Bit of Trivia he is widely believed to have been the only bloke who carted all three types.

Looking at the big sailing ship Club Med 2 and the smaller one Stad Amsterdam.

3 other cruise ships are also in port with them , Oceana, Celebrity Equinox and Jewel of the Seas.
